Considering Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is a huge part of why i became an artist, you'd expect me to draw Spirit more. 8') The last time I drew him was in 2021...oops LMAO. WELL I re-watched it with a friend last week and it sparked my motivation. I was only gonna do a headshot, but I used an old sketch for the body and decided to just say what the hell and make it a whole piece. I referenced a background from the movie as well for the bg, but it is all painted by me!

So here is *MY* version of Spirit! He reflects the real life horse that he's based on more than the animated film version (they had to simplify it for the animation, which is totally fair) and so he looks more like a realistic dunskin. I realize there's still some debate in the fandom on whether he's a buckskin, a dunskin, or just a plain dun, but I chose to portray him as dunskin to get the best of both worlds! (hannah montana plays in the background) Since he's fictional, I believe it's up to each individuals interpretation of the way he looks.

It felt really nice to go back to my "roots" so to speak. I haven't really been drawing a lot of horses in the past few years but I really want to jump back into it. Hoping that this is also another step in beating my art block ;3;
