During my trip to Iceland I visited one of the most amazing places, Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon. This is a little bit sad, but also quite a site. In part due to global warming, a glacier on the south coast of Iceland has been retreating. Behind it, a lagoon has been created that is just filled with pieces of the glacier. Apparently as little as 80 years ago, the lagoon did not exist.

The day we visited, the weather was, as it was for most of our trip, overcast. So this forced me to start looking for some of the smaller details. I found this great spot that was just absolutely filled with pieces of the glacier and pulled out my telephoto lens to really compress the scene as much as I could.

I was very pleased that I was able to capture some of the darker blue of the water, contrasted against the really vibrant blue of the larger glacier piece in the back. And that was really the challenge, capturing the amazing blues of these glaciers.
