Hi!
Just wanted to tell you that this has been one of my favorite mods for a looong time (since way before I got a deviantart account). I am working on a couple of Buzz Bee Hunters right now (similar to the Rapid Fire Tek mods I have been doing) and decided to look it up once more - and that was when I realized that you had done this mod. I only ever associated the tacticool stuff with you which isn't really my cup of tea - but this thing ist just incredibly gorgeous. Have you dropped mods of this kind in favor of the more modern ones you are doing right now?
Edit: Speaking of hunters: I am really excited about the Buzz Bee Predator. People seem pissed that it is basically going to be a Hunter clone but I am really happy about that as all the Buzz Bee blasters using this setup work so well (and look so good) with RSCBs. Can't wait for them to arrive in stores over here...

Good job, Marc.
Your wood handle integrations got me thinking. The hunter is a great gun once you stuff some CPVC down the barrel, but I wish it were more rifle-like. The stock on it is far too short to be effective. However, since you're so good at making handles, have you thought about making a wooden stock long enough to make this feasible? I've thought about doing it myself, but I don't have any of the proper equipment.

PS - I still owe you for the inspiration on my pink blasters. The Hello Kitty Super Happy Funtime Longstrike is friggin awesome... I was thinking of doing a SGT Frog version.

Honored that someone of your skill took inspiration from some crazy idea I had! And a SGT frog version would be awesome.

Thanks a lot - I really appreciate it!
Yeah - I was thinking about that too! A full stock would be awesome -- the only negative on the Hunter is not being able to do a full wood fore-grip, like a real rifle. The plunger tube is kinda big. If you want to work on one together, I'll do the stock on the base gun and send it to you to mod and paint any way you want - a collaboration. We can sell it when it's done - or give it to some group as a gift. I need to pick up another Hunter anyway - they seem to be more rare/less common these days. (at least where I am)
Just say the word!

Thanks a lot! It wasn't a true air-tight breech, but still much better than the stock Hunter design.

gosh.... that looks like a truckload of modifying.... What did you do, all in all, to the gun?
Looks real... and good regardless of my outlook on steampunk... THIS is an example of one that looks good and really works out as a beautiful piece rather than the "put-brass-paint-vaccum-tubes-and-a-thermometer/compass/anything-with-a-rotating-point" method most use

Thanks a lot! It really wasn't too hard. It was a lot less work than I anticipated.
I simply cut the stock, making sure to leave a spring post and metal rod in place, and found some pieces to strap the barrel on tight. I originally anticipated two sets of "straps", but I was able to anchor the barrel into the housing by simply shaving some of the plastic. The entire top of the case where I cut has not been sealed - you can peak down into the housing - the strap holds it all together. I made sure to paint the internals.
A paint tip with these - the paint scrapes off the bolt without some prep; you paint the bolt, fire the gun, and sand down places where the paint rubs off. Then do final paint.

Ahh well that would be why then... so good and I'd like a few of those grips myself!

Thanks both! I still have to get used to navigating and catching all the messages. I am indeed a noob over here for sure.
The handles are relatively easy if you can use a saw, a wood file and sandpaper. I attach the grips using 1-2 eye-bolts vertically into the wood, anchored to the inside of the body with a horizontal bolt, and then cover the entire internal bolt assembly with epoxy or polymers for a firm anchor. I anchor them to one side of the body so the gun can still come apart. On this model, you can see the anchor machine screw on the side of the body near the grip.

I've been toying with the idea of making some stocks on the scroll saw I have borrowed. I have one particular idea of mixing a famous stock from a videogame onto a standard Nerf gun. Not sure when I'll get to it though as I have a few other projects on the go atm.
Thanks for the tip about anchoring, I'll have to see if I can do that without buggering something lol.

I am jealous. All I have is a jigsaw and the blade is way too short. In a pinch later on, if you no longer have the saw you can save labor by drilling around the shape and chiseling it out.

Nice switch doing the furniture as metal rather than wood.

Thx! I had originally thought about doing more wood on the piece. I envisioned a more adult sized wood rifle stock to replace the very stubby Hunter design. Then I noticed how much space the forward internals require and was suddenly inspired to make a pistol instead... in the end, instead of sealing the front of the case, I painted the exposed internals down inside.
I like how it turned out, but in hindsight think I should have done more of a black powder type handle, not so western. Maybe more rounded and extended next time.
