Description A long time ago I did this:

I hope this new tutorial is more helpful and brings even better results! Best of luck, fellow Yusei cosplayers! :3

Even if you're not planning on styling a Yusei wig, I inserted lots of tips and tricks that can be useful for all sorts of wigs with crazy spikes~

Much thanks to and for helping me take pictures when my hands were full XD

The best wig I have ever seen, good lord! It's stunning, it looks so soft.. Most wigs look like cardboard ._.

how do you attach them to the wig? do you just sew the armatures to the wig??

While I haven't tried to cosplay in years, I bet these tutorials will also come in handy for things like doll wigs too. (A lot of Ball jointed doll collectors, I'm always seeing posting in the help section of the forums how to get certain kind of wig looks. Spikey hair mostly is answered with: "Just get a fur wig." but styles like Yami's and Yusei's are not easily done with fake fur)

Holy Shit... This just may be the greatest tutorial ever. I'm totally saving this for when I get the materials for my dream cosplay (Yusei)

Cosplaying as him is one thing I've just gotta do before I get older and grow out of 5D's (if I ever do )

I have a question, is it difficult putting on the wig? Cause you know, don't wanna destroy Yusei's pretty hair.

Such an amazing wig! Can I ask you how you actually make the armature attach to the wig? Like, do you actually glue it, sew it, use magic ? O:

Shendin [2013-04-18 04:19:16 +0000 UTC]

Malindachan, I have a question: did you add three sides to your armatures, or is it just a single folded two-sided piece that you supported using some kind of stuffing? The pictures are kind of small so it's hard for me to tell.
I still very much love this wig, by the way.

Did you ever have troubles with some of the spiky ends falling apart a few weeks/months later by chance? I just wanna be prepared in case anything happens to one of my wigs.

How did you attach the armature securely to the wig?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Malindachan In reply to Xelhestiel [2012-06-25 19:30:04 +0000 UTC]

Well, I first pin it down at the base before I style the hair around it, but then once I glue the hair down I remove the pins. The glue and hair is enough to keep them in place.

Thank you so much for that tutorial. It's great!

I am struggling with styling an Arda Malinka wig into a Naruto style for my son. I've been very successful making my husband's real hair turn into Kenpachi from Bleach, but working with a wig is quite different. I was struggling trying to get the ends of the hair to stay together; Got2B's firecan--while fantastic--just doesn't have enough oomph to hold together the spikes, even when blow dried into position. I can get everything to spike up, I just can't get the tips to stay together neatly. I think the fabric glue might be the solution that I'm looking for.

Thanks!

glad to assist! Got2b hair glue (it comes in a tube) is another alternative, but I don't like it as much as fabric glue :3
