Description (bottom view)

A bowl I made with the intention of carving it into a Yarn Bowl.

A Yarn bowl being a bowl, with a slot and or hole carved into the side, to allow a small ball of yarn to stay stationary while in use. I will post more pics when I have completed the carving process.

This particular bowl is made out of Silver Maple, and the multiple worm holes are filled with Coffee Grounds and CA

Ah - a signed bowl!
a Maple bowl, you have to tell me was this easy to turn, as I am starting to hear its either great to a difficult timber to turn?
But the end view is gorgeous, and I like the simplicity of your signature... I'm looking at signing my own but have no ideas of how to approach this - I've submitted it to my group hope you don't mind!

I don't mind at all. In fact I take it as a compliment
I love turning maple. There are many different species of maple out there.. this one is silver maple, which is a medium hard wood. Some species are much harder, and can be more challenging to turn. Sharp tools are key! I have been working on a few different signatures over the past couple of years. Depending on the age and size of my pieces, I use different marks. Thank you for your compliments!
