A very interesting TV-drama series. (For your info, I am a Korean by birth, although I have spend the great majority of my life as a US citizen.)

I loved it! Im not sure of its accuracy to Korean history but I enjoyed the way they told the story of Jang Geum.Β
When did u move to US?

I moved to the US waaaaaaay back in 1983, when I was little.
Obviously, historical dramas should be taken with a grain of salt as they tend to be spiced up for entertainment purposes. As for a drama like 'De Jang Geum', I think there has been a trend to have protagonists who are neither famous kings, ministers, or generals.

I think De Jang Geum is one of the best TV series created by the Korean entertainment industry by all accounts. The level of exaggerations and dramatizations found in De Jang Geum is nowhere as absurd as in numerous Korean war dramas, since De Jang Geum's strength comes from character development and intricate story lines, as opposed to awesome visual effects and combat theatrics. It uses palace intrigues adroitly to keep the audience biting their fingernails.
Yes, I can speak and listen to Korean for the most part. Unfortunately, although I can read Korean, I am not as good at writing (I will be making spelling and grammatical errors in the process), since I had only a bit of formal Korean education before I moved.
