Cybele was beyond insulted, and absolutely stunned at how stubborn this stallion could be. Had he not heard her clearly? Had he taken the care to lower his voice at the very least, perhaps she wouldn't find him quite so irritating at the moment. This was a very different side that she was seeing of him. And she didn't like it.
She tried to sound reasonable; she could tell that he was starting to edge some of the hostility out of his tone, and she decided that this merited an equal amount of civility, "I know you have your opinions, and you probably think you're right. But you should not be attempting to dictate anything about my life without fully understanding the situation. You can't just waltz in here like nobody's business and tell me what to do." It was becoming increasingly clear that this stallion had strong opinions and was absolutely bent on sharing them. Even if he was dead wrong.
"I may prefer Kiro's company over that of a stranger's, that much I'll admit. I mean, logically, an acquaintance is far more tolerable than a stranger. But to say that I care about anyone other than myself would be lying to both me and yourself... I have not done so for years, and have no intention of going back down that road. Perhaps you find allowing others into your life to be a blessing, but that doesn't mean I will find the same joy." Hurt flickered in her eyes as she remembered just how stupid she had once been, allowing others to become close to her. "You're irritated that I don't see things your way. But sometimes, mares like me can't alter their ways, sometimes horses just don't change for the better." She closed her eyes. And that is just something that you will have to accept.

Kiro | Loner
| Just beside the great pine |
Kiro sighed, laying against the tree on the floor he felt a wave of exhaustion hit him which rendered him unable to stand.
It was like his whole body was tired and limp, as if he had no control over it's movements anymore and it would just stay in this position.
Though his mind was still turning he could feel that too start to grow tired. Just like the time he had abandoned any notion of emotions and his soul had become numb.
He lifted his head and looked up at the stars through the gaps in the ceiling of branches. He loved admiring the stars, it gave him peace somehow thinking that no matter how alone he felt there would always be someone looking at them right now just like he was...
Maybe even feeling the same as he was, for different reasons. Perhaps it was his mother, looking down in disappointment at what her son had become with her gentle eyes.
What he would give right now to be able to speak with her, how much he wished he could have said goodbye to her all these years ago and told her how much he loved her.
He couldn't be weak like this, so many years struggling for survival as a young colt for this? To crumble at the slightest sign of aversion towards him just because he allowed someone to become important...
It wasn't ok.
He would talk to Cybele. Seriously.
No matter what the outcome or whether she wanted to hear any of it or not. If only he could gather the strength to stand immediately he would go over there but he needed a few minutes.

Miraphy smiled again. Having someone who could at least stand her presence was more than she had asked for. Now gaining a potential friend was something that took a moment for her to sink in. She never had a stallion as a close friend before. Sure, there were some nice guys from the Olde Herd she had become friends with in the last years, but all of them had been much older than her. Illucid, though, was the same age she was, so she couldn't help but still feel a little unsure. Thanks social awkwardness. She thought and hoped to not make some silly mistakes, which would cause misunderstandings, in the next time.
Overall, she was happy though to have someone who would keep her company in whatever it was that was coming. The young mare's eyes sparkled with excitement when she thought about that. It probably would be an adventure to travel to this new island. Then she had a whole new island to explore!
Despite her shy nature, Miraphy loved adventures and exploring new places, so this was a once in a lifetime chance for her. She then noticed that she had drifted off in thoughts again and quickly came back to reality.
"I think the best way to find out about this is getting some sleep and waiting for tomorrow." Miraphy replied with a little smile and started walking towards the great pine once again. Maybe it would be the best to sleep apart from each other for now, since earlier it had caused a misunderstanding after just seconds. No, it really was better if the two would sleep on their own to prevent such awkwardness.
Only now, she noticed how tired she had gotten. Getting some shuteye would be the best decision for now. When arriving at the bottom of the tree, she noticed that another loner - Miraphy did not know the name of - had laid down on the spot she and Illucid had laid on before. Eventually she decided to just lay down some distance away from the sleeping loner mare.
What a crazy day. she thought once again and noticed that she felt better than when she had settled down under the tree the first time. So talking out the misunderstanding with Illucid had been the right decision after all. She still felt guilty for just leaving before getting a reply from Ba'Yagu though. Hopefully the witch wasn't mad at her for that.
Slowly the thoughts in her head came to peace and Miraphy drifted off to sleep.
- sorry for taking so long, real life got in the way :C -

Temper? Is that what this could be called? Illucid couldn't be all that sure. All he knew was that he had left a pretty bad impression. She had gone to say that it was a temper, and it may have very well been. It was just very hard for the young stallion to hear. It brought back some very unappealing memories - memories that he had tried for so long to forget. He felt himself wanting to draw away from her, to just turn and find a place to rest by himself. If he was going to start thinking about his parents, he knew the evening wasn't going to end very well. He was already causing a bit of his own kind of trouble now. There was no way he'd be able to travel to this new island like that. As much as he wanted to go, he knew that something this small could trigger something very dark and very dangerous. It was a part of him he prayed no one would ever see. Just the situation earlier had shown him how sensitive and raw his emotions are. Something as simple as a little jealousy. It made his stomach twist and turn uncomfortably, but there was really nothing he could do. There were no medical consultants to help him. All there was for him to do was to realize when he was getting close to something so dangerous and then do everything he could to counter. But when you begin to feel as though it's not you in your body anymore, how can you control yourself?
The young stallion gave his head a shake, one that was probably a bit violent. He would never have admitted it, but it made his head felt a sharp pain from the sudden shaking. Illucid pushed it off, though, along with the thoughts, and turned his gaze back to Miraphy. He vaguely noticed that she had begun talking again - this time answering the question that she had ignored earlier. He wasn't quite sure how he felt about this. At first he wasn't a little upset about her bringing it up, but as he caught the tail end of what she had been telling him, he began to piece some things together. It wasn't hard to understand that loners wanted to be alone. It was basically in their names. The buckskin wasn't sure if he should have felt happy for her for having a friend, but hearing that she may not travel with them only made him feel bad. Miraphy, from what he could tell, had been planning to follow Ba'Yagu. Illucid didn't know what it meant to have someone close enough to call a friend, but he could imagine that leaving one behind wasn't easy. He felt some sympathy there.
"I'm sorry to hear that your friend may not travel," he answered carefully, thinking about each word and enunciating them slowly to make sure he didn't stutter. He was tired of being socially awkward. Now was the time to get over that. Like her, he also wasn't the best in groups like this - mainly the female population. Still, there seemed to be enough interested in traveling, which meant that he'd be around them a lot more. And then there was Miraphy. The pretty mare was saying that it was okay to be her friend. Illucid stumbled over this. He didn't quite grasp the concept right away. It took a moment for him to let the words sink in, and at the sight of her trying to correct herself, he couldn't help but smile. "No, no.. it's okay. I understood what you meant.." he said quietly. He was excited to hear that he'd be gaining a mare friend, but at the same time, he could see the pain she held for the loss of another friend. How did one comfort another in a situation like this? Illucid didn't want to be a 'replacement friend', and that he wouldn't be. He just felt as though there was no way he'd ever be her Zsa Zsa. Try as he might, the buckskin had figured out that there was some sort of secret thing that went on between the mares.. and he wasn't any mare. He was still going to do all he could to try to be a good friend for her. It's the least he could do, right?
"I'd love to be your friend, anyway. I think it would be awful to have to travel with other horses and not have any one of them to speak to. I think I feel more comfortable knowing that there's someone I could depend on. Who knows what could come out of this," he said, ears flicking back and forth with uncertainty. He really did mean what he said. He just didn't quite know how to be a proper friend. Friendship didn't seem to be anything a loner instantly knew.

-| Q |-
Loner | Stallion | Beyond the Great Pine
As the mare rebutted his angry words, Q's ears settled themselves against his neck, a snarl curling his lips up further than the frown had. While he waited for her to finish, he planned all the while how he would return, irritation making his tail twitch in a violent flick. He understood both of them to an extent, and that simple fact was irritating enough. The stallion knew what it felt like to hold emotions back, to warn other horses away with harsh words, or, often times, violent actions to protect them from getting hurt. However, what he had come to discover, mainly through meeting Nivinara, was that it was his own selfishness that kept him from reaching out. He had always thought he was protecting the other horse, but in reality he was only trying to protect himself, to keep a shield up to prevent more pain from penetrating it, to keep all feelings out, away from himself, away from his heart. In his mind, he had suffered too much to be able to have positive feelings.
It was then that he realized she was finished ranting. "Do I deserve respect?" she laughed. "Not at all. But I demand it."
Another flash of anger, this time a darkness creeping up on the edges of his consciousness, the darkness that he feared most. Q had to take a break to steady himself, attempting to calm his mind and get his point across more thoroughly, and perhaps in a more (bloody ridiculous) respectful way. "In order to demand respect for oneself, then one must respect others as well," the Clydesdale cross began in his deep bass voice, little of his irritation gone from his tone, turning his head to meet her cold yellow gaze, unfazed by the anger flashing within them. "Listen, Cybele, what I am trying to tell you is that driving others away IS NOT going to make you feel any better. You know what, my words are harsh, but I think you need to hear them. You bloody both need to hear them! I am an outsider in your little relationship, but I can tell that you both care for each other. So, why keep denying it and make it harder on yourself? My place matters not, little mare. What I see is two horses who are too afraid to attempt what could possibly be a positive change to both of your miserable existences!"
The stallion stopped to come to stand before her, raising his head with eyebrows lifted to emphasize his point. "You want to know how I know this since you obviously won't take to simple reason? I know from experience! For over eleven years of my life I locked myself away in my own selfish world, shoving any horse away that tried to make contact! But you know what I discovered upon changing that? It. Felt. GOOD. It was releaving to not have to hold it in any more! And if you refuse to believe that, or even give it a bloody try, then I've wasted my time on def ears."

Cybele did not bother replying to Q as he began to raise his voice, losing his patience. He continued his tirade for some time, and for the first time since meeting him, she was angry. Frustration pricked at her as he spoke, slowly building up, and she finally broke her silence. "Shut. Up." Her golden eyes flashed dangerously, the young mare was absolutely sick and tired of others telling her that she was wrong, that she was ignorant, that she was stupid.
She made her way towards the stream, eyes gleaming murderously. Q had no right to get into this. Absolutely none. This was between her and Kiro alone. And that was over. "You talk big. You speak like you have any nuance of what's going on," she hissed, "But this is beyond your understanding. Yes, I am pushing you both away. That part was obvious enough; a fool could have seen that. But you don't know why I have made the decisions I did, nor do you know your place." There was a line. And he had long crossed it. Whether his words had a point or not, she deserved none of his harsh words.
"Get yourself together," she hissed to the silver stallion, "I am not going to sit here and take this while you say whatever you want about me. You already know I'm not completely horrid, you know I'm not as terrible as I make myself out to be. So stop treating me like absolute trash. Either choose a better approach and treat me with a nuance of respect, or leave. Do I deserve any respect?" the pale mare laughed, "Not at all. But I demand it."

More irritation twitched Q's muzzle as Cybele again attempted to warn him away, trying to tell him to leave her alone. As far as he was concerned though, now he'd gotten himself so deep within the relationship between these two, that he was not going to leave either of them be until they worked their whatever this was out! And, well, as he thought about it, he just snapped.
"Would you STOP trying to ward away the one horse that wants to bloody help you, you ignorant fool!" he spat furiously at her, brows furrowing as a frown creased his scarred face. "You need to get over your bloody issues of trying to protect yourself from actual feelings! Believe me, I know what it looks like! Drop your facade, drop your stupidity, and stop shamelessly hurting the horses who genuinely care!" Yes, he knew his words were harsh, but this stallion had no problem being blunt. Frankly, he had another earful to fling at the buckskin stallion who had just left.
With another nudge to her flank, the smoky horse then motioned to walk towards a nearby stream, all the while staying at her side while his frustration bubbled and boiled within his stomach, preparing words to fling back should she choose to deny him further. Simply put, he was done with it. DONE.

Ozzer looked away as Kiro yelled back at Cybele, vicariously embarrassed for everyone involved. He couldn't believe the harsh things the stallion was saying, but then again he had no clue what had happened. He watched as the other stallion ran off, and was glad that the tension immediately decreased. However, Ozzer was as equally surprised as Cybele that Q stuck around, and, from how the stallion had acted against Troy as well, he thought that the dark stallion was probably a good ally to have. And it seemed Cybele had that whether she wanted it or not. Even though she was trying to get rid of him still, Ozzer could tell Q would take care of her. He didn't mind leaving someone in need if he knew they were in capable hooves.
Quietly he slipped away, wandering back under the pine tree. Momentarily he wondered why it seemed emptier, then realized that Illucid and Miraphy had also wandered off somewhere. Sighing he lay back down near his original spot. "What a day," he mumbled, stretching one leg out in front of him. He was glad he wasn't involved in any drama. He was actually surprised that anyone here was. They were supposedly the loners of Chevalin. Of course some might know each other from their travels, but he was surprised that so many friendships and disagreements were already settling between them.
But perhaps he wouldn't have the comfort of being drama-free for much longer. It all depended on what Ba'Yagu had to say in the morning.

Miraphy at first didn't know what to say. She hadn't expected to stallion to follow and so was a bit caught by surprise when he suddenly caught up with her. She carefully listened to what he said. It wasn't her fault? But it was! So the question now is whose fault it is? Oh dear... she thought. Nevertheless, she couldn't help but smile at what Illucid said. He was as nice as he had been before, which proved that it really just had been a temper of his.
"Let's not argue about the question of whose fault it is, okay?" she eventually said with a smile. "If you have problems with your temper then maybe this little journey will be good for you to learn to control it. I mean, if you choose to follow Ba'Yagu to the fourth island of course..." Now she was shy again. Why couldn't she just speak normally!? It really bugged her. Hopefully this whole situation would help her too then.
What else could she say? Not much actually. Before they reached the great pine, she stopped again, not wanting to disturb those who decided to sleep already with her and Illucid's conversation. An unsure smile appeared on her face again when she suddenly knew what to say.
"Also, about your question from earlier: I am very nervous about what might happen tomorrow." she made a small break to stare into the growing night and frown. "I came here with a friend, but I don't know if she will make the journey with us. From all the loners she is my only and best friend and I wouldn't know what to do if she would suddenly be gone." Miraphy stopped speaking again to carefully choose her next words. "I'm a loner and therefore like to be alone, we all do. But when I'm shoved into a group of horses like now I tend to get very unstable and unsure when I don't have anyone to hold on to around."
She sighed. Thinking that Zsa Zsa might leave made her sad. What would she do without her friend? Who should she talk to about her past in the city and all her treasures back home? Who could she share her stories of adventures with and who could then teach her how to behave like a proper lady?
"I hope that I will learn from this journey too and become a little more stable. But I will miss all the friends I have to leave behind. I don't expect anyone of them to survive the war, though of course I do hope so. When Zsa Zsa also goes away, I won't have any friend left in this world. It would break me." The last part she said a little more quietly. Then an unsure smile once again spread on her face. "I would be more than happy to have you as a friend. This way we both aren't that alone anymore." She really hoped that Illucid wouldn't get this wrong.
"I don't mean you as a replacement-friend of course! I would have loved to be your friend also without this extreme situation." she quickly clarified, not wanting to cause yet another misunderstanding.

At the sound of hooves behind him, Illucid stopped, ears pinned back. Was someone following him? Probably to yell at him for being such an idiot. Why couldn't he just be alone for awhile? He needed some time to think and to sort out these foreign emotions. His mouth opened as he went to yell at the other, swinging his head around to see who it was. Words never formed, and instead, the young stallion was left staring with his mouth hanging open awkwardly. This was probably not the most attractive face to make, but he was just so shocked that he couldn't have cared. He didn't really know who to expect, but Miraphy was one of the last. It was hard to keep his eyes from widening. He turned to look at her properly now, swallowing slowly as he tried to pick himself back up. Then she started talking, and Illucid was hit with his second wave of shock. She was apologizing? What did she possibly have to apologize about? Misunderstanding was right. He didn't mean any offense, but he thought she was the one misunderstanding. He had left to be alone for awhile, so that he wouldn't jump to any dangerous decisions. She had chosen to follow him and apologize for something that was his own fault.
He made to say something to her, but she continued, so he stayed in a respectful but quiet shock. His mouth was closed, eyes focused, but he still felt as though his jaw sat on the ground and his eyes bugged out. He couldn't believe that she had felt this way. This was not at all what he wanted to do. Funny thing was, seeing her so small and innocent made any and all anger evaporate. He suddenly wanted nothing but to tell her that it wasn't her fault, and that he was just having some trouble understanding himself. He felt awful for letting her think the way she was. Then she had finished talking and was turning away, wandering back over to the Great Pine without Illucid having a chance to tell her it wasn't her fault at all.
With his stomaching knotting up, Illucid suddenly didn't want to leave anymore. He couldn't leave with Miraphy believing that it was her fault. His mixed emotions were sending him in all sorts of directions. Since when did he have such a bad hold on himself? He gave a shake of his head, ears flicking back and forth as he fought with himself. On one hand, he wanted to turn and continue on his way, feeling as if he had left on an extremely terrible note and not having the confidence to own up. On the other, he knew he needed to talk to the mare and apologize to both her and Ba'Yagu for his behavior. While the doubt was in his mind, Illucid knew that he had no choice. He heaved a sigh and quickly trotted back towards the Pine.
"Wait," he said, slowing when he caught up. "You're not at all a bother. Please don't think that. If anything, I'm the one being a bother." He paused, thinking about what he should say next. There was so much he wanted to tell her. "I do agree that we've had a misunderstanding. I just.. I act so.. stupid sometimes. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or make you think that it's your fault, because it's not. It's really not." He was beginning to sound desperate, and that wasn't very respectful at all. It was incredibly difficult for him to talk to her, especially after what had just happened. He only hoped that he could set things straight without causing any more damage. Illucid sighed. "I- I want to be your friend. I don't want to leave this feeling bad about something that was definitely all because of me." He finished there, deciding to give her the chance to say something in return. He wouldn't be surprised if she didn't want to be around him. After all, he was a bumbling mess. The young stallion just hoped that she would understand that it wasn't her, that it was him, and that they could leave off on a similar page without any awkwardness between them.

Kiro
Leaving the Great Pine
With every step he took, it was like a rope tightening around his heart and every breath was one of glass shards filling his lungs. Once he got out of eye sight of the two figures in the distance he turned a corner behind a large tree, leaning his built frame against it heavily as he panted.
Was this really the right decision? How could he live with dismissing this mare from his life- forever...
No, he couldn't look back now after those harsh words he had said.
Luckily the fact that the silver dapple stallion hadn't followed him meant he had taken to his words. He was going to make sure she was alright and for that- Kiro was forever grateful.
Maybe it was better he had hurt her now better than later? Only time could tell when he would feel constricted by anyone's kindness and up and leave. It had been embedded in his brain that anything that could come from love, of any kind, was inevitable pain.
Ever since his mother had disappeared and his father convincing him it was his fault and torturing him mentally and physically every day because of it, with everyone watching as Kiro silently broke to pieces he had grown bitter of love.
He reminded himself of Aralynne, a mare he had once grown to care for in his younger years and the same mare he was hoping to meet when Cybele had suddenly crossed his path. He was given the wrong information and she had not shown up but that night her golden mischievous eyes had stirred something inside of him. In the beginning, it had been more of the flight instinct he instantly felt when he cared for something. Something he had reacted to when it happened with Aralynne, something despite his numbness he regretted greatly. Had he broken her the way Kiro felt right now?
He truly had become the monster he hated for so many years. He had become his father. Capable of inflicting this much pain on others without even a second glance as he made his escape. It was almost sickening.
His head span as images of his mother and the way papa treated her flicked through his mind as he slid down the side of the tree panting and wide eyed. If he would become like his father, maybe he was doomed to never love at all? No mare deserved to be treated that way.

Her heart was heavy as Kiro turned tail, his heartless laughter rang in her ears. She turned her head away, silently thankful that he was leaving for good, silently glad that he would no longer be burdened by her inability to feel, silently grieving that she would never see him again. His words stung, but just barely. Cybele was no fool, his words were certainly some sort of coping mechanism, something to make this easier for the both of them. He cared—maybe not a lot, but just enough. Why else return from the shoreline? You're not fooling me, Kiro. Still, he was gone, and she exhaled, the slightest flicker of regret in her eyes as she glanced in the direction he had run.
But this wasn't over. No, Q had not taken off after the other stallion. Cybele was bewildered, she had been so sure that her words would drive him away, so certain that he would take the bait she had so carefully laid out. As she considered her options, something rudely prodded her in the side. Q. As he nudged her to her feet, she glared at him. It wasn't an angry look—no, it was one of confusion.
Now that Kiro was gone, the young mare dropped her act, her expression relaxing from one of indignant exasperation to a more a look that one has when accomplishing a difficult task. Pride. With a barely noticeable sorrowful undertone. At last, she was at peace. "You should leave too," she sighed, dull golden eyes flicking up to meet pale blue.

Loner | Stallion | Beside the Great Pine
The shame that had just flooded the smoky horse's coat was turned into pure, wholesome anger upon hearing the dainty Cybelle's cold reply. "I'd face the bachelors over you idiots any day." Was she really that ignorant? At this point, he was beginning to question his ever helping her in the first place. He had put his own life on the line for her then, and offered to help her now, and she would rather shove his rare acts of decency back into his scarred face. Before any words could leave his quivering lips, Kiro's mirthless laugh reverberated off of the silent trees.
What Q 'felt' upon listening to his fellow stallion isn't easy to describe with words. . . everything the other horse was uttering were all similar to things he had said before. . . when the time was necessary, he had driven more than one horse away. "My dear. You can lay here and rot for all I care, don't you see? I don't have a heart- BUT I suppose it was entertaining while it lasted." A stab of pain in his chest. How was it that these two had so managed to slip beneath his cover of cruel brutality with such ease? It was uncomfortable. . . unacceptable. Necessary.
It was then that Q caught the buckskin's expression. Pure agony was written in the crinkle of his brow, etched across his face in a way that showed how much it had hurt him to utter those words. 'Take care of her.'
The loner felt as though an entire pack of grass-beast had bowled him over and he took a step backwards. W-what? Him? Take care of her? A part of him didn't want to give the mare a second glance, but. . . why was it he felt this was some sort of duty of his? For him to become the guardian of this mare whom he had saved, but cared not for? It was just his nature. The tiniest of nods was Q's reply, brown eye softening for that brief moment as he actually felt himself begin to care for the other stallion. What. A. Day.
'Goodbye, little foolish Cybele.'
One thing had become clear to Q through all of that. These two needed relationships help. And they needed it bad. Whether or not he was the horse for that or not, he honestly didn't care. What he did dislike was the fact that he'd become entangled in it all, but what to do now? Well, he'd keep his word, or rather, nod, and take care of the insolent, foolish mare laying in the grass behind him. The stallion turned away from Kiro as he walked away, lowering his neck to give Cybelle a nudge. It wasn't a rough movement, but it wasn't gentle either. "Come on, you're getting help whether you like it or not," he growled, deep voice vibrating the grass about his muzzle as it curled into another snarl, tone clearly reflecting every once of frustration he had been feeling over the last several minutes. His patience was wearing thin enough as it was, and he was nearly fed up with this entire situation.
This is why I hate other horses. . .

TROY
Dingo left without any more opinions, which surprised him. He was used to getting a reaction out of horses. It annoyed him when they acted so cool and better than him. He watched Dingo leave, he words settling in Troy's mind. Was there really no one he cared about? He wouldn't cry if he stepped over his mother dead body. He wouldn't even blink. All the horses he had met on his travels, his heart called for none of them.
Wait, maybe there was. She wasn't much. Truth be told, she was pathetic. But she had pushed him away and she hadn't tried to drag him closer. Something about her eyes pulled him deeper than he cared to admit. Troy thought for a long while... no, he couldn't let her die. He had to at least try something. Maybe he could lead her somewhere safe, or take her to Ba'yagu's mystery island.
"WAIT! Dingo!" The sleek and muscle Thoroughbred Andalusian powered towards the golden pelted loner. He's heading north. Maybe he's heading to Olde, too. He wasn't sure why he was bothering to make the long trip, but he had nothing better to do, and he wanted to put distance between himself and Ba'Yagu.
"Mind if I tag along?"

When Illucid stood up, she wanted to say that he could stay, but when she saw the anger in his eyes, she kept quiet. Had she said something wrong? It did seem so, right? The stallion walked away without saying another word, shooting a glare at the witch and rammed her cart. If left the young mare confused, and probably Ba'Yagu too. What had gotten into him? He had been so nice just a minute ago.
Then the pieces seemed to click together in Miraphy's head. She had answered the witch instead of answering him and he must have seen this as if she wouldn't want to talk to him at all. Furthermore, the witch hadn't mentioned him, even though he practically had laid next to her. He must be angry because of that. Ignored by two mares at once. That was probably the way he had seen it. Even though her social knowledge was quite low she was able to recognize Illucid's behavior as that what it was. Or what it probably was. She couldn't help but feeling proud of herself, maybe this trip would help her getting more social knowledge too.
She quickly shook her head. I'm getting off topic here. Focus! She told herself in thoughts and stood up as well. "I am sorry, but I think he understood something wrong." she said to Ba'Yagu with an unsure expression. The witch was important, sure, but getting this misunderstanding cleared out was far more important right now. Ba'Yagu surely would understand.
The shy mare trotted after Illucid who already had walked far ahead. Hopefully it wouldn't anger the witch that Miraphy, too, had left the great pine now. She would come back though, no matter what happened. When she was only about ten meters away from him she stopped, unsure what to do next. Her shyness made it hard for her to say anything at all, but now she had come all this way after him she couldn't just stand there and keep quiet, could she? Alright, here we go. She thought.
"I'm sorry." were the first words she managed to speak out. "It was all a misunderstanding, I guess." This became awkward. She glanced back at the great pine, maybe searching for moral support. She wasn't sure herself. Miraphy looked back at Illucid then. Suddenly she knew what to say.
"The truth is that I am not good at talking to others, especially not to stallions. I-I never really know how to behave, which often causes misunderstandings. I apparently did something wrong and I'm sorry for it. I just don't know any better..." her last words were merely a whisper since she had gotten quieter and quieter when she spoke. What did she do here? She wasn't a brave mare, so what did she try to do? He would probably be angry at her anyway, regardless her apology. Why did she even bother?
Shyly she looked to the ground now, not daring to meet Illucid's eyes. She felt as unsure now as after her outburst over Troy's remarks earlier this day. "I'm sorry that I'm nothing but a bother." she finally said quietly and slowly made her departure back to the tree.

| ℑllucid |
While Illucid himself held a deep respect for the witch of Chevalin, he couldn't help but feel his emotions start to twist together when Miraphy turned her attention to her. He couldn't sort out anything anymore - it was all blurred together. It brought a sickness to his stomach, and a foreign pain stabbed away at his chest. He rarely felt this due to the fact that he didn't have many friends, but it came about every now and again. He would feel this swelling occur when he saw someone he knew talking to someone else. What was this feeling? Illucid wasn't very sure. He just knew that when provoked, it could lead him to do dangerous things. It was during this instant that the young stallion knew it was time to take a walk. There was no way that he would stay here and be the cause of some grave accident of his doing. It scared him way too much to think about it any futher.
As he stood, Illucid finally found the center of his raging emotions. There was anger. Burning deep down in the core, he felt it. It was determined to slowly bring him to his knees, but the stallion refused. He was not about to be at the mercy of his anger, nor was he going to reflect his anger on anyone here. With Miraphy laying to his side and Ba'Yagu resting not far off, he knew it should have been easy to give into the anger, but still he refused. He cared about them too much and was much more a respectable stallion than to release his wrath onto a mare, or anyone else for that matter. The thought of hurting anyone here drove him crazy, and soon it all became too much. He felt himself begin caving to his jealousy, and without uttering a single word to his company, he turned to take his leave, hoping to find someplace quiet to better himself in.
Illucid had never acted this way before, and honestly, he was having a hard time finding the reason for his actions. He was normally able to quell this feeling so much easier, but now he couldn't. He had let the emotions win, and he needed to leave. But what had even drove these awful thoughts into his head? The young stallion wanted to collapse and sob immaturely with the burden. Would this be something he would have to live with for the rest of his life? A sudden jealousy that could shake his entire body and force his mind into such insanity? He told himself that he would probably have to remain a loner for the rest of his life and keep away from others if he were to keep the others, as well as himself, safe. It was then when Illucid paused and snuck a glance over his shoulder, his blue eyes bright with the sympathy he wished he could explain. He felt very rude for just getting up and leaving without a word, but with the boiling pain growing larger and larger, he knew it was safer to get away. Besides, she wanted to talk to Ba'Yagu, not him. Who ever wanted to talk to him?
The realization hit Illucid like the Great Pine falling over onto him. It was the witch. The witch and Miraphy. The paint mare hadn't answered Illucid's question and was focusing on the other. She had basically ignored Illucid. That's how he had seen it, anyway. He didn't even stop to wonder for a moment if she was sorry for it. Besides, it wasn't as though she had said anything to him. Clearly the witch was more important, right? Or was this some sort of witch craft she was pulling on him? Was this some sort of joke to her? Illucid was taking everything very harshly, and with everything collapsing in one him at once, he immediately felt overwhelmed. He didn't know what was going on, only that his jealousy was pointed towards the two. He didn't even know them very well. How foolish it was for him to think like this, but with such a raw emotion that he hardly ever felt, how could he control it? He didn't know the first thing about jealousy, and all he could do was walk away, letting the anger boil his blood.
The young stallion half walked, half stalked past the witch, shooting her a glare that could knock down a whole army. How dare she call on the loners and then pick favorites? Hadn't she seen that Illucid, too, had faithfully stayed underneath the pine? Sure he had knocked over her cart and all, but he had felt sorry for it, in a way. Besides, he hadn't realized how upset it would have made her. Apparently this was her way of showing him. The thoughts he couldn't stop thinking only increased his anger. He was doing his best not to show it, but with his stiff walk and too-tense muscles, it was probably pretty plain to see. He passed Ba'Yagu then, forcing himself to keep moving. He came up to the wagon, casting a sidelong glance at it. It was then that he stepped closer to it, purposefully ramming his shoulder against it, hoping that it would have tumbled over once more. Alas, Illucid walked away with a scraped shoulder and a not at all knocked over cart. Ears laying back against his rough mane, he decided to keep going, not dwelling on the fact that he probably just made a huge fool of himself.
How was he ever going to come back after something as naive and immature as this? What would he do if he ever came across his few friends finding others to talk to? Would he become this angry? Illucid roughly shook his head, jumbling the thoughts around, trying to force them out of his mind. He couldn't deal with it anymore. If this kept happening, he was going to have to find a way to relieve himself of this stress. He couldn't even believe what he had just done. Getting so upset over Miraphy talking to Ba'Yagu? When he didn't even know either of them? How could he feel this way about two horses he hardly even knew. Frankly, it frightened Illucid. Not much could strike fear into the young stallion's heart, but this did. He was a good horse. He had good manners and did everything he could to be friendly. He liked to have fun and make new friends. So who was this new stallion that had just shown himself by the Great Pine? A shiver ran down Illucid's spine. He didn't have the answer, but he sure as hell hoped that no one would ever have to see that stallion again.

alternate ending-
Illucid walks over to Ba'Yagu's cart. He gives it a shove, hoping to topple it over once more. Instead, he somehow manages to fall into the cart again. How does he possibly manage that? Well, it's Illucid we're talking about. He can do anything this stupid. So, with Illucid now in Ba'Yagu's cart, the cart flies off down the hill, and Illucid's mane flaps gracefully behind him. Oh what fun this is. It then occurs to Illucid that there is a bottom to this hill, and he will have to stop. The decision is now between jumping out of the cart or crashing it. His idiotic decision is to stand up in the flying wagon ( " please keep your hands and feet inside and stay seated until the ride comes to a complete stop " ). He leaps out of it, hitting the group hard ( he probably broke something ) and rolling a few times until he comes to a stop, thoroughly shaken up and completely dizzy. Once the world finally stops doing loopy-loops, Illucid hears the distance sound of the crashing cart. Ba'Yagu's cart appears to be in ruins, with all of it's contents scattering. We all know, now, who isn't the witch's favorite.
The end.

Kiro
| The Great Pine |
Kiro's ears flicked backwards as she denied being disgusted with his words but rather that she had felt responsible for his decisions, with a small grunt he was about to apply as he turned his head back to face the mare before he was met with her angered gaze. Then she poke again with even harsher words than before. Did she really thing that he wouldn't be able to see past this front, this charade, this attempt to get the both of them as far away from her as possible?
Though he still understood very little of emotions he knew enough to be able to recognize it by now, it wasn't all anger she was showing as a glimpse of hurt also shone through her golden eyes. The frown upon his face only deepened and cast shadows on his expression. He watched her lay her weak head to the ground. This was not ok. He had to do something about it.
This was going to hurt him more than her but right now, he knew of no other way out. He wasn't about to leave here with her in this state. Unacceptable. He thought.
Suddenly the mustang let out a little high pitched snicked and a sly grin spread across his face.
"Oh you silly silly mare!" he laughed on as he walked around the front of her to look down menacingly with no sign of the Kiro that had only just confessed his feelings.
"Tsk!" He scoffed, his lime green eyes glinting with a mischievous smirk "You really are clueless aren't you? You think a pathetic mare unable to see past her own weakness could ever decide what I do?" The ice cold look and this sudden change almost brought a shiver along his own spine because this was the first time he had played his thief tricks on someone he actually cared about but he controlled himself.
Another burst of deep rumbling chuckle arose from his throat.
"Don't think so highly of yourself milady" He bowed with a wink menacingly close to her face. "You're not the only one to be so dense that you actually believed I cared about you" his eyes turning to slits as his voice went to barely above a whisper "You're just like all the others."
He twirled on his haunches and raised his head with a crooked smile, only the half of his face with the scar lit up by the moonlight. "My dear. You can lay here to rot for all I care, don't you see? I don't have a heart- BUT I suppose it was entertaining while it lasted." He turned around to walk away shooting Q a glance he could only see and he hoped would understand as his face faded to complete pain for a split second as he looked at the silver dapple mouthing 'Take care of her' before returning to smirk at Cybele.
"Goodbye, little foolish Cybele"
His heart trembled with every step but he refused to let it show.

Ozzer, was it? She couldn't be sure whether or not she had heard correctly, her head was spinning. She flashed the donkey a grateful glance for choosing to remain nearby—this encounter would surely not end in her favour. As Kiro spoke to her for the first time since his unpleasant... confession, Cybele flinched at his words, "I'm not disgusted, I'm upset. I've lived a life without responsibility, and here you come, telling me that my decision affects yours." Something angry flickered within her eyes as she remembered the last time another's life had been intertwined with her own. It had brought her nothing but pain.
The buckskin stallion turned away; she was unable to discern his expression. Her attention snapped to Q as he angrily took her bait, cursing her, "Then you may lay here and fall prey to the bachelors!" Her face was an expressionless mask, her lips a stony, unreadable straight line as he said this. That fate was more than she deserved, hurting the only two horses who had ever given the slightest damn about her well-being.
Still, despite how difficult it was, she had to finish the job. She was too messed up, too far broken to be any sort of company for Q and Kiro. Although her actions were partially selfish, the majority of her seemingly-cruel act was for the better. She could not decide Kiro’s fate; she could make the wrong decision, leading to not only her ultimate demise, but his. And as for Q, he was nothing but unfortunate collateral damage of her decision. At least that’s what she told herself. She bristled indignantly at his response, "I'd face the bachelors over you idiots any day." Her voice was weak as she lied through her teeth; her vision was blurring once again, but the young mare was certain that turning these two against her was the right thing to do.
Cybele knew she meant nothing but trouble. She was no more than an inconvenient burden to these two stallions. Like with Vonn, she would only hold them back.
Dizzy with thirst, she lowered her slender profile to the grassy earth in an attempt to steady herself. Her breathing, previously heavy with emotion and anger, was becoming fainter. Her brows furrowed in the slightest as she attempted to mask her discomfort and lightheadedness.

Loner | Stallion | The Great Pine
While Q had an idea of how angry the mare could be upon his return, he definitely did not expect that much of a negative outburst. Seconds after she very well called him 'unintelligent,' the dark horse's shoulders tensed, ears laying themselves back flat against his neck, teeth bared in a snarl reminiscent of those of the grass-beast he had saved her from not so long ago. Anger rippled through his pelt in a visible, shuttering wave and a large, grey hoof stamped the hardened winter earth.
Before Q could utter the foul insults now floating about his mind, the buckskin had jumped in to his defense, willing to take the blame for whatever anger she felt towards him. He was shocked once more into silence. Why would he do that? They'd only just met after all. It seemed both stallions were stepping out of their comfort zones that day. . . He mentally laughed at himself. Why he'd given -well, attempted- advice on feelings. What had this world come to? The loner cast a glance at Ozzer where he stood to the side, watching the dramatic events between the three unfold.
It was not long before he turned back to the champagne and buckskin as the later finished his scolding. For the moment, Q was at a loss for words. Was there some deeper meaning behind the last jab? He didn't know, and probably would never know. Finally, words came. "Look, if you'd rather not have our help, miss," he began, voice glazed with an icy layer of forced politeness, "then you may lay here and fall prey to the Bachelors!" The instant he said this, he knew that he had taken it too far; he would never leave any mare to that herd, and he visibly flinched upon their exit, guilt driving a stake deep into his chest. Q turned his face away, eyes tightly shut, and, ironically enough, the X scarred half faced towards the three of them. The bloody thing that forever marked him as one of those monsters. Maybe he was one anyways. . .

Moses met Ba’Yagu with his eyes as she offered him a gentle smile and he gave her a small nod in return while he was trying to make up his mind on what to do. He liked the lonely life like any other loner, that’s why they were loners, but who said they couldn’t continue being so? Yes, sure the area of their territories would be limited but nobody would force them to stay on the new island. It couldn’t be that bad and even if what Troy had said there were those in greater need of the new island to escape the war it would be almost impossible to locate all of them and there would be new foals to keep track on to save each day. The thought was good but too far-fetched, at least in his mind.
Moses was brought out of his thoughts when he heard Ba’Yagu say his name. He turned his face to her once again before walking in under the great pine tree, lying down to keep her and Dallas company.
”Oh why the heck not? What doesn’t kill you make you stronger and if you don’t try it out, you will never know.” He gave the old mare an encouraging smile.

|Ozzer |
Ozzer was relieved to see the mare's eyes flutter open. "The name's Ozzer," he answered her, but he wasn't sure she had heard. She still seemed a bit out of it; her eyes wouldn't even focus on him before they closed again. Before he could even ask her if she was ok though, she was trying to stand and, more surprisingly, leave. He figured she'd fall over if she tried to take any more steps. "Whoa, now, I don't think you should be going anywhere in this state. And those two went that way, but I don't think..." His words that he didn't think she should go anywhere, either to the stallions or away from them, were cut off when he looked in the direction they had fled. They were already coming back. His ears went back. As with the rest of this day he had no clue what was going on, and he was getting tired of it.
He nodded in reply to Q's thanks, but soon got the feeling that he had entered into something that he had no right to. There was some sort of drama going on between the three, and he looked back and forth between them as they spoke.
There were obviously some established relationships between them, and to Ozzer it seemed mostly bad. It was hard for him to stand by while the other stallions very obviously upset the mare, but he was a complete stranger to them and the situation, and he knew his input would most likely not be welcome. However, Cybele still seemed very unstable, and he wasn't going to just walk away in case she needed help and refused it from the other two. He backed away a few steps so as not to be in the middle of the confrontation, but would be near enough to help.

Kiro
The Great Pine
No he was not amused by Cybele's snappy attitude towards Q, he had saved her life before right. Somehow, he couldn't help but think though that it was a defense mechanism for her, she obviously did not want the loners around because of Kiro. She wouldn't have pushed herself to the point of fainting if it weren't for his stupid decision to tell her what was on his mind.
He stayed a few steps behind Q not making eye contact with the stubborn mare that lay on the ground but when she denied the silver dapple's offer to help her he was slightly annoyed with the reaction that caused the equally headstrong mustang to take a few steps forward and address her directly.
"Look." Was he really about to drop the gentleman act to defend a stranger? Well it wouldn't be the first new thing today.
He closed his eyes with a frown, it hurt him to see her fragility laying on the ground like that and not being able to do anything about it.
"Just because my foolish attempt to be honest has suddenly blinded you with some form of disgust does not mean you should so bluntly react to this stallions intentions to help you. It's not like he dragged me back by the hairs on my head against my will. If you say you can stand-" he opened his eyes to look down at her.
"Then stand." he raised his head at the small frame.
"You cannot. I will take back my words if it should give you enough peace of mind to stop this and watch your health and then I will be out of your hair should you truly wish to erase me from your life. All I wanted was to hear your opinion because you were the only one to have not voiced their thoughts, as usual."
Perhaps he was being cruel, but it ached his heart that even their friendship suddenly seemed to mean nothing to her.
Somewhere he hoped he had not broken her opinion of him completely as he glanced back at Q, hiding his pained expression from Cybele.

Hoofsteps closed in behind Cybele, curious loners, perhaps, coming to investigate her recent dramatic collapse. However, the voice that spoke out was a familiar one, and she narrowed her eyes, whipping around to face the "intruders". Absolutely refusing to give Kiro proper acknowledgement, she turned to Q instead, "You brought him back?" she hissed, "Have you lost your mind?" Perhaps his actions were of the best of intentions, but this gesture was far from welcome.
"If you were clever enough to escape a pack of wolves, then surely you are intelligent enough to realize how undesirable I find your presence at this moment." With an air of stubborn, adamant resolution, the young mare pointedly turned her head away from the two other loners. "And I can find my own water, thank you very much."
Of course, she was lying. Her recent fall had left her lightheaded and unco-ordinated, but she wasn't about to admit anything of the sort. Why had Q brought Kiro back? They didn't even know each other. To her knowledge, at least. That aside, it suddenly dawned on her that she wasn't the only unwilling participant in this "reunion". A certain buckskin looked like he was just about ready to vomit.

Loner | Stallion | Plains of Eastern
The sound of his own hoof beats were soon matched with those of the buckskin stallion as he came up to trot alongside Q. The crooked smile that met his lips was inevitable, and it grew into a rumbling chuckle when he noticed the look he had just received, clearly telling him not to react as he had. He could hardly help it, but he was glad to have convinced him to come back. It turns out it did mean something to him after all; somehow he had related himself to the other stallion's struggle, perhaps because he seemed to similar to himself. . . But he also knew very little of him. He didn't even know his name yet.
"Yes, she fainted. I did not just say it to listen to my own voice," he retorted, sarcasm dripping from his words. However, he grew more serious as the other loner continued, speaking more of the matters of the heart. "Aye, it is a pesky little thing, is it not? So capable of controlling your every thought and motion, when it remains stationary. Such a strange thing. . ." He allowed his words to trail off as they drew closer to the group of loners. The fainted mare had awoken, and now lay beside the grey donkey Troy had previously teased, appearing to have woken her. Many had now divided into their own factions, all based on whether or not they agreed with the witch. The smoky stallion had long ago decided to see this through, to go with Ba'Yagu to this fourth isle, and he found himself wondering now if Cybele and this stallion would come. Well, he would ask, and maybe figure more out about them as he went.
"Thank you, kind donkey." Q came to a halt at Cybele's side, giving Ozzer a nod of thanks before throwing his head in a motion to the buckskin beside him. "We could carry you to get some water," he offered quickly, flicking his ears forwards with an almost pointed meaning.

Dingo
Dingo's crooked features knitted together in a frown, and he heaved a soft sigh at the pinto stallion's response. "'P'haps you're right, Troy, and p'haps I mightn't be able ta do anythin'." He replied in shallow, quiet tones as he turned away. "But I still believe you're right, in the way there are some horses I don't wanna see dead if there's somethin' I can do 'bout it. Fair travels and stay safe, Troy." The other stallion left a bitter taste in the massive buckskin's mouth; much as he respected and shared his point of view, he knew he could not partner with such a demoralizing being as Troy. He walked away on soft hooves, passed the beautiful ash hued new mare that had joined their conversation, and gently inclined his ragged head to her in a nod of respect. "May you stay safe too, Miss." Dingo spoke genuinely, hesitating his pace slightly to deliver his words before he briefly flicked his bland blue eyes to her and continued on. These lon'rs don't need my help. I know I need to do some things on my own.
Once again, he melted back into the gloom of the trees, dull-furred neck hung low to the ground as he brushed his muzzle through the undergrowth, a strange sense of urgency swelling his usually calm logic to frets of anxiety as he walked. Who would he go to? He felt obligated to the Exiles; they were the herd that had birthed him, but it had been so long now, and still his shame at abandoning them as a child when they had needed him stained his optimism, and he thought instead of one of his closest friends; Ziara. Instantly a cold stone of panic dropped into his stomach; he had no idea what was currently transpiring between the Bachelors and the horses of Olde right now because of this meeting, and as a guard if there was to be blood shed, his friend would be caught right inbetween the crossfire. Dingo's head lifted and a disturbingly cold light suddenly glinted in his usually warm eyes. You won't take another friend from me, Klaus. Never again will I let your atrocities for horses harm anyone, without me dying first. His teeth gritted with determination and he picked up his pace, lumbering hooves thudding the ground as he galloped toward the land bridge.

Before Miraphy could thank Illucid for his remark on her courage or answer his question, she heard her name being mentioned by Ba'Yagu and perked her ears to hear the whispered words. "Dallas, Moses...Miraphy, You three want to come - do you?" It was the question she had pondered for the last few minutes. Though she would feel miserable for leaving her friends from Olde behind, she had to think of her own safety first. Eventually she turned her head in Ba'Yagu's direction and nodded.
"Yes, I do want to come. It is very kind of you that you offer us safety instead of just going there yourself alone." she said with a smile. She wanted to make clear that she did not take this whole situation for granted and highly appreciated what the witch did to save the loners' lives. It was something special to her and she had decided to make the best out of everything.
Her view lingered on the witch for a bit before turning her head to Illucid again. Would it be unfriendly to continue her conversation with the stallion just like this without waiting for a reply from Ba'Yagu? It probably would be. So she just gave him an unsure smile and nodded as a silent answer. She would answer in full length when the talk with Ba'Yagu was over. The legendary witch deserved to get the full respect after all. Especially from Miraphy since the older mare was a great idol to her.

At first, Illucid seemed a bit unsure about it, but she had said that it would be alright, so he decided it would be. It calmed his nerves to see that she, too, may have been a bit nervous. Was there something wrong with this, or did both horses not have enough interaction to know what was right? He gave a shake of his head, mane flopping ungracefully down around his neck. "To be honest, I think it's great that you had the courage to say something to him," Illucid admitted as he settled down next to her, tucking his legs neatly under himself. "He was getting a little out of hand." If anyone was to judge, it wouldn't be Illucid. He had his own flaws, some greater than his good points, so he had no room to talk about what was right or wrong. But when it came to manners, Illucid had been raised well enough to know at least some form of politeness, and Troy seemed to have lacked it. He didn't want to get into any fights, so the young stallion had stayed quiet during the chestnut's big blowup, but he would have liked to tell him to respect Ba'Yagu for at least thinking of the loners. So when the few horses did speak, he couldn't help but feel a bit awed by their courage.
Illucid took a moment to look around the clearing once more. A lot of the loners had left, leaving only a few. He hoped some were thinking about returning. With such a meager group, would the witch even take them to the fourth island? Or would she feel betrayed that so few trusted her enough for this? At this point, Illucid went so far as to call it pointless. If he were her, he would have thrown up his hands in defeat and walked away. Then again, he wouldn't want to give up on the handful that trusted her. He was going to stay here and travel with her, regardless. While a few horses remained, he was completely unaware of the events happening around them - the other loners working out their problems. Instead, he was here, laying next to a pretty mare, thinking about what tomorrow might bring. It was definitely a more calmer route - he hoped. Pushing the thoughts back, Illucid turned his gaze to Miraphy.
"Are you nervous about what might happen tomorrow?" he asked curiously. He himself was excited to see how the events would unfold, but at the same time, that one part of his mind told him that it might not be something he was ready for.

TROY
"You know, I agree with you. Refuge should be saved for those who will be most devastated by this war-- families, foals, elders. We Loners can look after ourselves."
A voice as soft as petals caught his attention next, and Troy saw the vivid black and grey mare Miraphy had hid behind had followed him as well. What was this? Troy's secret army of anti-Ba'Yagu followers? With a roll of his eyes he turned to the beautiful hot mess that was Zsa Zsa.
"Like I said... There nothing anyone can do to stop a war. Unless one of you two can lift me off my hooves as well?" Troy looked between Zsa Zsa and Dingo with sarcastic hope before sighing dramatically. "ALAS, we are doomed. Seriously though.. let the herds sort things out naturally. Hopefully the stupid ones will die, and the smart ones can lead them to peace."
There was a gentle pause, and although it was accidental, the chestnut's bold voice softened with his next words. "So long as the kids don't get involved. Maybe that's what I'll do."
As quickly as the sweetness came, it was gone, and Troy laughed. "I'LL MAKE MY OWN ARMY, OF BABIES!"

TROY
The young stallions fury slowly melted away as solitude wrapped him in it's cool embrace. Without anyone around, his mind began to unravel. Maybe he had lost some self control back there. Maybe his opinion would have been more effective if he hadn't yelled it with insults. But Troy didn't care what anyone thought of him, he never had and he never would. There was only a hole in his heart were the warmth should have been.
As Dallas addressed him, the Chestnut jumped so much all four hooves left the ground. He turned his head on the accent-heavy loner and groaned. He'd been too lost in his messed up head to even realize someone had followed him. Secretly, he was thankful for the company. Although Troy sometimes needed to step away from emotional intense situations.. being alone was soul destroying for him. Interacting and messing with other was how he avoided his own worries.
"Bloody hell, a little warning next time would be nice!" Dingo's words made him laugh, and he gave the dun an unimpressed look. "Do you seriously see me going out there and playing the hero? I'm the bad guys hilarious sidekick, if anything. What can any of us do to save the herds? We're loners; the shadows of Chevalin."
Troy grinned at his little line of poetry, pleased with himself. "Now, if I could lift a groan stallion off his hooves, I would be able to do something about it. But alas, I am just a selfish, self absorbed, horny, mean, rude, entertaining, worthless, moronic bachelor leftover."
The sarcastic and melodramatic tone, paired with his sick smile, made it clear his was still at least a tiny bit grumpy..

Kiro
His ears flicked forward at the stallions words that Cybele had lost consciousness shortly after his departure, a nervous eye now glancing towards Q who appeared to be leaving. He had no idea why the stallion was so angered by Kiro's actions and chose to come speak to him but somehow his words had gotten to him. Besides, the concern for the cream mare's safety was not going away just because of what she had said and nor were the feelings. Perhaps, that was what bothered Kiro most... That he had let himself feel all these emotions he had never experienced since he was a child and now there was no going back...
He glared back at the island of olde, he was no coward, he just hated confrontation in every way but it was not because he was afraid. Heck he hadn't known what it meant to be afraid. Also, this stallion's words were enough to get to him which also never happened because he never cared about what others thought so what made Q so different?
He suddenly turned and bursted into a short canter to catch up with the other loner, looking away with a 'don't you dare have a smug look on your face right now' before speaking.
"Cybele. You say she fainted sir?" he tried his best to analyze why he felt some strange likeness with the stallion.
"Hurting heart" he scoffed a little "That's new." having never heart such a phrase relating to him before having dismissed anything like that long ago.
"It is such a foolish organ, to hurt without being sick and many other troublesome things." he trotted on next to the stallion as he caught distant sight of Cybele looking up at the donkey, clenching his jaw. What was he doing? She didn't want to see him.

| Eastern Island - Treeline |
The young mare lay unconscious; Q had spent several minutes hovering anxiously over her before taking off. No loner approached for quite sometime, perhaps 15 to 20 minutes, and her heartbeat was slowly adjusting to a slower pace, allowing Cybele to regain consciousness. "Ki—" She stopped herself. The figure lingering just above her was one that she did not recognize. It was neither Kiro nor Q. Her eyes took a slightly panicked light, but she remained stationary in her position on the ground. "Who are you?" she inquired, voice slightly bleary from her recent mishap.
Something in her head was throbbing, she was sure. With neither bumps nor bruises apparent, she couldn't be sure. Her eyes flickered over the form of the strange mule that had roused her from unconsciousness, but she made no eye contact. With a nervous flick of her tail, the pale arabian closed her eyes, exhaling painfully as the recent events began rushing back to her all at once.
"I have to leave, now!" She gave the donkey an apprehensive gaze; it was difficult to discern the tone of her quiet voice, but her eyes betrayed her alarm. Taking a deep breath, Cybele pulled herself to her hooves, shaking gently to dislodge bits of grass and leaves. The world lurched around her, and she took an unsteady step forwards. Of course, she was not expecting Kiro to return. Yet... she did not want to take that chance. "The two stallions who just left—which way did they go?" Never one to face a problem head on, the young mare knew she had to get away, and fast, or risk meeting them.

Ozzer listened to those around him. A few murmurs here and there, but the one he was paying most attention to was the one going on near the center of the tree. He hadn't caught Ba'Yagu's whispered words, but Dallas' reply made it obvious that she was asking about their loyalty. The donkey's ears were straining to pick up what Ba'Yagu might have to say next - perhaps she would speak more about the new island to those lying near her - but someone else's voice took precedence.
"Somebody help her, I don't know what is wrong, nor am I some medicine horse."
He looked out to see the silver dapple who had stood next to him in opposition of Troy earlier running away towards the sea. He could see the young cream mare lying on the ground where Q had just fled. Suddenly very alert he lurched to his feet, hurrying over to the mare on the ground. He couldn't stop himself from trying to help someone who needed it, even if it was just to find someone who could help them even more. Unfortunately he was no medicine horse either. The extent of his knowledge was stopping bleeding, and it didn't seem that she was wounded anywhere. Actually, she seemed quite okay... just unconscious. She was breathing normally anyway.
"Anyone know what happened to her? Did that guy do something?" he asked with a jerk of his head in the direction of the fleeing stallion. It seemed weird that the other stallion would run off without saying what had happened, but Ozzer remembered seeing her talking with a different stallion just a little while earlier. And he didn't seem to be anywhere in sight.

Loner | Stallion | Ocean Shores
The smoky stallion's ears lifted to listed to each of the buckskin's words, irritation prickling at his hide like a swarm of flies in the summer. For one who had recently come to know the signs of affection, the happenings between the two had been caught as easily as stealing a blade of grass from a foal-not that he'd ever do that. . . "Yes, me," he spat in disgust to the original exclamation of his presence. "I did not miss what happened before the two of you, by supreme CHANCE, walked away from each other. I am no fool, I know the signs of a hurting heart, but unfortunately for you, sir, running away to stare at yourself in the ocean ain't going to make you feel better, and it ain't going to get your dearest Cybele back on her feet. Yes, I met her once before. It was a brief encounter in which I saved her life. I'll have you know that she ran into me and promptly fainted after leaving you." With a stomp of his hoof, Q gave the buckskin a rather forceful bump to the shoulder, more of a forceful encouragement than an act of aggression. "The way I see it is, either you can run away from this, or go back and face it!"
With a prompt, annoyed flick of his tail, Q turned and began trotting back towards the fainted mare. At this point, he did not care a rat's nest if the buckskin followed or not. He'd said what he'd come to say, and all that was left was to return to see if anyone had helped Cybelle. Q glanced backwards, hoping that the other horse would come. For some reason, it mattered to him if he did.

Kiro
Not only was Kiro not expecting company from any of the strangers that had seen him run, but he was so deep in thought that no matter how observant the stallion was, he had not seen Q coming towards him. He shot his head up from the water a little at his sudden voice taken aback a little by hearing one other than the harsh inner voice.
"You..." Kiro observed the stallion to be the loner Cybele had run into earlier but hadnt gotten the chance to speak to so he didnt know his name.
"I hardly think you can understand the situation with what little that was said" he raised an eyebrow at the notion of 'stallion up' wheb that was basically what he had done by voicing his thoughts to the arabian mare and it had come to hit him like a truck. Useless, good for nothing emotions.
Nevertheless, he kind of liked the stalllion's approach though harsh if anything was worse it was when others beat around the bush by being careful with feelings. Kiro had none.
"You know Cybele?" Kiro questioned in a low voice, not really caring to react to the stallions annoyed questions. There was nothing Kiro had run from in his eyes because there was nothing there. She didnt care for him the way he had realised he felt about her so why would he bother her with his presence any longer? You cant force someone to love you... The concept still incredibly confusing to him but he had seen his mother desperately try to awake non existing feelings in his father so many years and all it had done was break her.
"I ran away from nothing stranger, couldnt you tell?" He glanced from the corner of his eye to see if he ujderstood what he had meant.

Loner | Stallion | Eastern Plains
Well, that certainly had not been the reaction he expected. Upon catching sight of the dark loner, Cybele had simply said, "You again," and fallen to the ground. What on Chevalin just happened? He simply stood where he was, staring down at the still body then up after the buckskin stallion now fleeing the scene, mouth hanging slightly agape.
That had escalated quickly. Q's gaze turned back to the pale champagne mare laying in the grass, taking a tentative step over her body to stand on the other side where he proceeded to take a few steps towards the stallion who quickly disappeared over a hill. Clearly, something had happened between the two of them, and as to what that could be, he only had one idea. Something to do with, dare he think it? Love. Maybe it only came to him because of his own experiences lately, and he found himself sympathizing with the pair - which was odd, for one. What was this sympathy? All these feelings that had been coming to him were pesky little things, annoying. . . infuriating, but nice on occasion. The dark stallion shook his mane out as if to dismiss his thoughts, as was his classic fashion, making his mind up with the movements.
Turning on a hoof, Q faced the mare again, lowering his muzzle to gently nudge her cheek, as if testing his grounds. "Cybele?" he muttered questioningly. Unsure of whether or not the mare would wake, and frankly feeling rather awkward from where he stood above her, the dark horse turned, searching the area around him for another who might be able to help. Several had retreated beneath the grand tree's roots, but several remained outside. The stallion took a bounding leap away, flicking his tail before a harsh neigh vibrated his throat. "Somebody help her, I don't know what is wrong, nor am I some medicine horse," he whickered to a chestnut pinto and a deep bay mare with a stark white mane and tail. He then ran past them all after the stallion that had run away. If there was one thing he could do, it was knock some sense into the buckskin.
Q found him on the edge of the ocean after galloping a fair distance, sliding to a halt in the sands, sending a cloud of the gritty stuff into the air. He stood where he was, now conflicted over his original plan. What was he supposed to say to this horse he had never met before? Harsh words often left his lips before anything else, and in a situation like this, nothing else would do. "Why do you run from whatever that was back there?" he growled as his ears flicked backwards to rest against his obsidian neck. "Stallion up and face your problems!"
(OOC: Well, Q's certainly not the most comforting horse. . . )

Dallas
The sleek dappled horse had turned his attention to the elder bay mare again, gently lowering himself to the ground near her. It was too early for him to want to get any shut-eye just yet, but the Witch had spoken to him, so he didn't mind keeping her some company after their ordeals today. "A'course I will. I trust ya. Ya made a tough decision." He spoke softly, knowing that at least was true. Dallas felt the others should be thankful; of any horses she could help, she chose the loners. Sure, the Exiles and Bachelor mares and their foals were the ones that would really need help, Dallas however trusted that Ba'Yagu had a reason. A very good reason, for choosing what she had.
Dallas looked around for the ones called Miraphy and Moses, the other two that had been asked. They seemed to have even heads on their shoulders. It was then he had noticed that a few of those who had shown up were now gone. No matter. If they thought they could face what the legend herself had told them, more power to them. Dallas would not be taking any chances. He had no obligations, no setbacks. It would be foolish of him to stay behind, though some may think that hiding away was cowardice. In his own mind, however, self-preservation was nothing to be frowned upon.

So, the landbridges were here to stay. Surely that couldn't be it. Ba'Yagu wouldn't just summon them to tell them that. Em decided she would just hold her tounge until Ba'Yagu finished explaining everything. Voicing her opinion prematurely would only delay the witch's tale.
And sure enough, a forth island? Em was about to burst with excitement! She would love to be one of the first horse's to walk on the new island. The only thing that could possibly dampen her spirits now was the fact that her dream of joining the Exiles was ruined. If the Exiles were at war, Em was not sure if she wanted to join them anymore. Yes, fighting excited her but WAR was a whole other ordeal.
Her train of thought came to an abrupt halt when Ba'Yagu started yelling at Troy, who was now suspended in mid air. Now, this was fascinating. Em loved the idea of magic and really cherished the sight of Troy writhing about, totally helpless. She was not scared, Em didn't get scared easily, rather she found that she respected the witch for sheer selfcontrol. If Em could do that kind of magic, she'd not just make Troy hover around, but fling him against the tree. Repeatedly.
She found herself grinning mischievously, but her grin soon faltered when Troy started voicing some pretty insulting opinions before storming off.
"Good riddance, I say. Hwo'd want him on their island anyway? What a brat!"
She said to the remaining horses. She was going to stay of course, but she couldn't be bothered to sleep just yet. She wanted to discuss Ba'Yagus news further.

Ba Yagu
Before retiring to her place under the tree, the mare offered the loner known as Moses a gentle smile. She had not bothered to reply to Troy as he stamped off in his immature rage, but she appreciated the silver-maned horse standing up for her. She knew these loners were confused and torn between staying and leaving - could she blame them though, really? Even she felt a pang at abandoning the herds and seeking refuge in a place she herself hadn't been to for so long. She was quite disgruntled by their reactions however - she couldn't help the others. The Exile herd was far to large for the time-worn mare to lead, and the size of the fourth Island could barely hold ten loners who so obviously wanted to be miles apart from each other. The island could hold maybe fifteen horses and give them all room to form their own territories. 'stubborn and selfish outcasts' Ba'Yagu thought to herself. The horse Troy had contradicted himself in his words - and that was the only thing having the old witch feel she had done things right. He had called her both responsible for the herds of chevalin and told her that she should do nothing about it. She laughed sadly as she found herself nestled underneath the tree. Perhaps she should just disappear and leave them to their own. The loners had proved enough to her today - they were just unworthy as the rest.
Perhaps if they had even given her a chance to explain that she couldn't help the others - the elderly - the sick, the young, they would understand that she was doing her best. She was after all- sure that the other's couldn't be saved. The Exiles had sealed their fate when they choose to cross the land bridge, had they just waited for her to get there in time - perhaps she would have saved them. Of course, she hadn't even known any of them survived the fires until they died down - and by the time she had reached their Island - half of them were already on the road to the Bachelor territory. She had felt that maybe, if she couldn't save them - she could save those not lead by another. After all, who said these loner's were completely abandoning their homes on Chevalin? They could always come back after the war was over - that was what she had figured. Or perhaps they would get there and find the magic of the crescent Isle had made it able to hold more. The last time she had walked the sacred isle - she was merely a foal. Perhaps her memory was failing her. So many of the horses seemed on the inbetween, others hadn't even spoken - those like Ozzer, Goose, and Callisto. All three of them seemed so well in nature - perfect little souls to save but would they accept her offer?
Laying her head down against the tree's trunk, she whispered, "Dallas, Moses...Miraphy ,You three want to come - do you?"
