Hi lois, i'm really drawn to the particular piece, mainly because of the dynamic lineart. I noticed that it is easier to create dynamic lineart when sketching, but often for the price of having thick and unclean lines. Are your sketches naturally dynamic and thin, or was this a lineart traced from a rougher sketch? Have you ever faced a problem when your final lineart look stiff compared to your sketches?

hey! thanks for the kind words. The linework is definitely drawn over a rougher sketch. But I always keep a lighter version of the rough sketch in the final piece, so that some of the dynamic feel that's created by the rough sketch is kept. It always feels wrong to throw the rough sketch away entirely!

So... I've been "attempting" digital drawing and my lines always end up shaky. What do you use to smooth out your lines?

well, in this case i'm using ipad pro & apple pencil which is nice for smooth lines because the reaction time is really good, and you can zoom in a lot to get some good control over how you draw them. in general i think working at a high resolution, zooming in to draw the lines, and then zooming out helps to smooth them! I also usually go over them again later to add some thicker line weight in certain areas, which makes them look more flowing. hope that helps!!
