Photomanipulation; using PSE 10 I tried to imitate that 'powder' butterflies have on their wings, onto Virna's skin...I'm not sure how well I did with that...
Dedicated to Virna who has a birthday coming up on April 30th. Happy Birthday, Virna!

I love this picture so much! I have a special affinity for monarch butterflies as my most precious childhood memory was when I was 7 years old and a monarch butterfly landed on my leg when I was at a fair and stayed there for hours.

The woman I made this for, for her birthday, she too has such attraction. The original picture, the butterfly on her cheek, is real, and it too stayed with her (I think it was 2 days) But I was very impressed and touched by the incident and wanted to help preserve the memory even more... Another very neat work - you get the butterfly effect very well, Linda. As to the powder effect, I'm not sure. The idea - yes, but I wonder if the grain size is a mite too big. However, I would have to experiment myself to see how different sizes looked, so only a suggestion.
As usual, your work always surprises and delights.

Yes...I did fiddle with the size a bit; this was the best outcome, in the end....I think I looked at it for so long... that everything began to look right. Additionally, I started thinking, we are supposed to be seeing her as though it were a macro shot... (I look at waaaay too many insect macro photos! 
But I doubt anybody (other than you) takes the time to even look at the work that long, let alone to think in such terms.

That is a good point, Linda. How would a human face actually look at macro scale? It is the size of the surroundings that determines our perceptions. And, yes, I do tend to look quite closely at your work, and some other friends' images as well. Do you know my-heart ? She makes some wonderful compositions in a unique style - worth a look if you have not come across her.

Exactly my point. Some of those macro shots, the pollen on the bees for instance, looks amazing magnified like that! A real inspiration to me. I've become a real bug lover since finding DA. - Never thought I'd be saying THAT. LOL

Spiders are adorable too! (I'd get freaked out though - not scared, just freaked, if any crawly insect were to get on me. With the exception of the common house fly, for some reason. (they tickle so good
