Y'know something thats been urking me since the new Conan movie was coming out, was all the fan-boys complaining about the look of the actor they got to play as Conan.
Often they say "He looks NOTHING like a Cimmerian! Cimmerians are pre-Celtic!" Well! One thing we should all know that the original name given to the Celts were 'The Picts'! Kinda ironic there don't you think???

Funnily enough I think he looks EXACTLY like Barry Windsor-Smith's iconic Conan in Red Nails, etc. Arnie was a dead-ringer for Buscema's Conan. Nobody looks like Frazetta's conan!

& thats the point that I think a lot of people have missed about fantasy characters, especially pre-history fantasy characters!
They can look anyway you want them too! Its all a matter of interpretation!

I love Conan, I'm from Texas, the birth place of Conan. I live 15 minutes away from Mission TX., where Robert E. Howard, Conan's creator, sat one morning remembering the mist covered hills of Fredricksburg TX., and wrote the poem Cimmeria. I really love this piece. Your truely captured the spirit of the wild barbarian in all his gory glory. Just as the late great Frank Frazetta first did. Hats off, great work.

Thanks man. No, sadly. Never did those designs, though who knows? They may have seen this online - it's been circulating for at least five years, possibly six - and been inspired by it.

Sadly I can't just do one-off jobs like that - I get so many requests for stuff for free if I did them all I wouldn't get any of my work done, plus I'd be broke... LOL! Glad he likes my stuff enough to ask though.

Ah it's ok. He asked me to draw it for him if you couldn't, but I don't think my art is good enough to compare lol. oh well. Just for the sake of asking, how much would something like that cost me? I'd like to get him something good ya know?

Private commissions from pros can vary from a hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on how famous you are.
I'm 'fairly' famous.
