This reminds me of the time Natsu learned transformation magic from Mirajane, and ends up turning into a copy of Lucy but with his original outfit on.
Too bad it was the pre-timeskip version though... I would have loved to see Natsu become post-timeskip Lucy.
The only question now is, which "Lucy" are the Celestial Spirits going to decide to serve now? And will Natsu be the one to end up in the Star Dresses when original Lucy uses the Keys?

Actually it was.
One episode featured Body Swapping, were the cast gets switched around and Gray ends up in Lucy's body.
Another episode featured identity transformation, were everyone gets transformed into clones of Ichiya (including the girls).
And finally, the main TG episode. Lucy, Happy and Natsu learn Transformation Magic from Mirajane, and Natsu uses it to transform his body and head into a copy of Lucy (but he keeps his original outfit).
So yes, Fairy Tail has in fact done TG before.

The body swapping episode is part of the first season.
The Ichiya identity transformation episode is part of the first reboot (not the final season one).
The Transformation Magic episode is also part of previous reboot.
The body swapping episode is Episode 19. The Mirajane Transformation Magic is Episode 222, and the Ichiya Identity transformation episode is 226.
