Description So this is a photo of my extremely pretty friend Taylor, who agreed to help me out and model for my Art coursework. Glad to say that some of the shots came out really well, and I'm quite happy with them.

As I said, portrait photography isn't my area of expertise, so any comments would be greatly appreciated (:

Very nice capture. I really like the colors and the bokeh is nice and complex. I do like the pose of your subject and the elements in this photograph, but I think there a few improvements. Like you, I am not an experienced portrait photographer, so I'm just calling this the way I see it. I think the photo might look better if the subject was frame center or even slightly to the left of frame center. I think this would balance the image better, as it stands now you have a lot of dead space frame left. It is however, a very original composition and you might not find any need to change it depending on your audience. The leaf in her hair I think either needs to be removed or become the center of attention more, it's distracting in my opinion. But like I said the pose is very nice and she looks relaxed which makes for a relaxing image.

Ah, see I'm not really sure what my style is to be honest? It's taking me so long to figure out just what my favourite type of composition is. Most of my photographs so far have been quite traditional, but I just thought I'd have a go at something different this time. Although people have different opinions, I think I like that. People's different points of view always seem to inspire me to do something a little different?

Thank you so much for taking the time to write out this critique, it's greatly appreciated. I agree with what you said about the leaf in her hair, but by the time I'd noticed it we'd already finished shooting, so I just decided to leave it and not edit it out either. I'll have a look at how cropping the image turns out, and see if that makes for a more finished looking photograph. I'll be uploading about two more from that day, so your comments and ideas would be greatly appreciated again (:
Thankyou,

Don't you hate when that happens, you get so focused on the large picture you miss the little things that, picky jerks like me find I do it all the time and I even try to watch for that kind of crap. Looking forward to seeing more.

Haha, tell me about it. I'm such a perfectionist but I thought maybe it'd be nice for once just to leave it unedited? Oh well, thanks so much again anyway (:

well the thing to keep in mind is that it's just one perfectionist opinion. Other people might look at it and think it adds character or intrigue to the scene, you know? that's one, of many downfalls, of this site, is it takes awhile to narrow down who your true audience is, so sometimes it's hard to determine how people will react to your work. Like when it comes to the composition, me being more of a traditionalist would like to see a better balanced image. However, someone is more of an abstract / modernest would think that composition is new and innovative.

This is quite nice! I love the use of natural light and gold tones here. One thing I would have changed was having the tree trunk right in the middle, kind of distracting but acts as a really nice reference point. I would still have oriented it more to the left in the frame, though.

Oh, you're welcome. It's a very good photo as is, just thought if you were going to do something similar, that would be a good way to go. I usually leave my pics alone.

This photo is absolutley stunning! The color contrast is really great. I might have mooved the shot over a bit to the right...but...your friend really is extremely pretty.

Thank you so much! Yeah, I'm going to play around with cropping to see if it looks better, I just thought I wouldn't go for the normal composition this time.. Thank you again,

Weel good for you for taking a risk! Thats something everyone needs to do a little bit more often... definatley keep coming out of your comfort zone. Sometimes, you find a new passion or something really great comes out of it. Other times though...you find it a learning experience and what you got wasn't so spectacular... Never give up on what your working on. Eventually, it has to work out somehow

This is gorgeous.
The focus is fantastic, and I actually like the leaf in her hair for reasons unknown, lol.
Very well done. <3 =]
