I drew this lion and his fiery mane from the following reference photo.vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/aβ¦
The butterfly as always is my trade mark kinda hidden to not distract from the lion. I also brightened the eye area a bit to make him less ferocious. I personally have always thought lions to be strong, however something in the eyes always looked beautiful and gentle to me. Please remember when commenting to always use constructive criticism. Hope you like it.Β

Strathmore vellum paper
pencils- HB 2H
progresso and laurention pencil crayons
needle for indentation method
Black fine point sharpie

Excellent work. Both the lion and butterfly were rendered well. Not sure I like the inclusion so large of a butterfly, it was the first thing I noticed and it felt out of context. I'd have gone with something more subtle, perhaps hidden more in the main with the fur forming the outline of the butterfly; like a hidden picture.Β
