This is for all my fellow black/white mixed folk out there.

I remember years ago on tumblr I saw this black woman completely disregard criticism she was getting. I can't remember the subject matter, something involving race, however she made a comic in response to it and she drew a visibly mixed person, labeled them in the comic as an 'oreo', and said that their comment was to be disregarded because they were half white and therefore were irrelevant because of this.
It incredibly upset me, because I'm a black/white mixed person, aka an 'oreo', and my comments on race shouldn't be made irrelevant just because I'm part white.

On my main profile, I say I am not white.
While It's true that I'm mixed race, I choose to more strongly identify with the black part of my heritage because it's how I was raised and it brings me more comfort.
Mixed people like me are allowed to choose one part of our identify that we identify more strongly with. We don't have to, but we are allowed to.

No, I'm not pulling a Rachael Dolezal (ew) on you. I was already black in the first place.
