Description And so the enslavers of the Promised Land shall know our wrath, and the Children of Earth shall break the backs of the rulers of the world, and through their might they shall free all of humanity and bring them to God, but not without the blood of the Martyrs spilt in the heavens...

-Hymn of the Martyr, Book of the Archon

This is a screenshot of a recent project of mine, likely my last official class project of the semester. We were tasked to do a storyboard of a large animation project and work on it. Naturally, I didn't do the storyboard, primarily because I've got one and only one mindset; do something in space. And space, naturally, demands no storyboards...

In any case, this is a point in time just before the Omega Wars occured in the galaxy, (about 30 years earlier, in fact), in a time period justly named the Corporate Wars. This was a cold war period that took place over several decades involving many of the pseudo-factions of the RUSN as well as the Sons of Archon faction, as it took place quite a time after the ending of the War of Three Factions. This war's primary inspiration was in the basis of the storyline of Eve Online, where corporations fight each other with members from every empire and race regardless of imperial faction or imperial standing against one another.

The factions involved during the course of this war included the following:

The RUSN - While officially not a part of the so-called Corporate Wars, and having written down in history that the Corporate Wars was itself a derogatory term that was not an official war period, much like the Cold War was for the ancient United States and Russia, the RUSN Military factions have all experienced the occasional skirmish or contingency in and amongst the many corporations, and have occasionally sent ships to join corporations as a combination of goodwill and to ensure security is kept at maximum throughout RUSN space.

Atlantis Corp. - One of the primary forces behind the Corporate Wars, Atlantis managed to achieve a monopoly on several prime resource chains throughout the known sectors, causing many desperate corporations to attempt to steal from them in retaliation. Given that Atlantis itself is a powerful corporation, many of the contingencies involving it were acts of retaliation on their own part, where they managed to completely wipe out entire stations on the basis of re-requisitioning their own property.

The Empire of the Red Star - Almost its own faction itself, the Empire, comprised of humans of oriental descent, exists on the fringes of RUSN Space where they keep to themselves, going so far as to have their own starships and military and only sell and buy imports that they feel are needed, which isn't a whole lot. Given that the majority of them are proud of their heritage, their military branch tends to only listen to officers of Imperial descent, which can cause problems among the ranks when many of them are distributed throughout the RUSN military.

The Sons of Archon - Even during the time of the Ceasefire, many of the Sons of Archon who were the most adventurous and fanatical performed crusades across RUSN space, supposedly against Archon orders, causing border disputes that lasted all the way up to the Omega Wars. The Sons of Archon have on occasion threatened war, as have the RUSN, though nothing truly has caused a great amount of stir until the Omega Wars occured.

Civilians - Many smaller civilian corporations, specifically groups of small-time businessmen running starships that have been given licenses to carry military-grade weapons for defense, have made themselves known throughout the Corporate Wars both as powerful influences upon the galaxy and as potential brigands. While most of them never lasted very long, many of them such as the Corinthian State, the Hands of Morgul, and even Trekkie Corporation, have remained in power long after the Corporate Wars came to an end.

Pirates - The primary reason for the declaration of SBLA (The Small Business Licensing Act), allowing for merchant vessels and small-businessmen ships to use veteran and downgraded military warships (that would otherwise be scuttled) and/or military grade weapons for defense, and likely a primary source behind the Corporate Wars, pirating factions began rising up all across space near colonies that had become disgruntled enough that they preferred to rebel against all rather than join a single faction. Pirates became the primary enemy talked about throughout the Corporate Wars, even more-so than the different corporations themselves and even the Roark Legion, which had been gone for at least a century.

Reapers - Likely the true reason behind the release of SBLA, Reaper activity increased tenfold just before the Corporate Wars started. Being the result of Roark Legion experiments in human-cybernetic slaves combined with an RUSN virus attempting to kill the computer controlling them, the resulting failure created uncontrollable monsters who existed only to bring pain and destruction to humanity, whenever they weren't recruiting new Reapers. The secret behind their origin was still kept from the general public, but at the rate that they were appearing and performing incursions on sovereign worlds the military believed that a solution needed to be soon. Thankfully throughout the Corporate Wars the Reapers became more controlled and remained in their territories, but during the years just before the Omega War began they began pushing out of their territory once again...

Hmm, that Moriarty in the background looks like it has a different color scheme...

The foreground one is an Archon variant, and the one in the background is a Colonial variant. I think the lighting is what makes it look different.
