Maybe there's an enemy of theirs that likes to attack the top of their heads, so the eyes migrated down, the way some people theorize Hammerhead shark eye placement helps protect them from stings when eating rays?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tron1112 In reply to shikomekidomi [2017-12-04 13:56:27 +0000 UTC]

well, that is a possibility, but the eyes are on the jaw, the migration path would have had to go from the jaw's joint all the way down, and those are multiple eyes.
it looks like a predator, not a herbivore or a species that need 360 vision, it just docent make sense.

Spiders are predators and they've got bunches of eyes.Β  It's not a truism that being one means you only need a couple.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tron1112 In reply to shikomekidomi [2017-12-09 14:25:45 +0000 UTC]

Spider eyes are on top of the head, away from the mouth and by extension a lot of harm. 360 vision may not have been the best example but the eyes could have a much less dangerous position.
If it bites into something of hers the side of its her smacked then the eye could be damaged.

It's possible that these organisms hunt smaller animals in the dense foliage below them, so their eyes migrated downward so they can look into the brush without having to tilt their heads down.

tron1112 In reply to MrBuscheese [2018-07-13 23:10:12 +0000 UTC]

Possibly but claw and teach placement suggests attaching forwards instead of down. Clawing forwards.
also, if It dose hunt creatures closet the the ground, the eyes would want to be farther way from the ground to prevent dust and such from getting in...
Unless they have more snake like eyes with a second, see through, eyelid

This is legitimately one of the best extraterrestrial creatures I've seen. I love how they share some similarity with therapod dinosaurs in conjunction with having a very alien and original appearance. The design of the jaw and head, the placement of the eyes and the six limbs. Stupendous work.
How did you come up with the name for it? Β

Secondly, just for fun, can anyone think of a reason why there might be a use for two pairs of forelimbs like this thing has?Β  It seems redundant.

owIett In reply to Rumble23 [2016-02-03 01:41:48 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps to murder things twice as fast, or hold down prey while slicing it up, or maybe even to cut meat while eating? I mean, check out the claws on that bad boy, and his teeth suggest that its a carnivore. However the eyes are more of an herbivore, as carnivores tend to have eyes on the front of their faces - like cats and dogs - as opposed to horses and cows, which have eyes on the sides of their faces. Therefore, he'd be pretty useless at spotting prey, however good at spotting threats and possibly a better scavenger. Judging by the plant size, the Cruentulodon is about the size of a human, with possible threats, so it'd be more plausible that this was a scavenger.

tl;dr, Read first sentence.
