Those concentrated watercolours aren't lightfast, how to you stop them from fading?
π: 0 β©: 1
KatyLipscomb In reply to Iron-Pancake [2015-09-17 15:45:34 +0000 UTC]
I find that they don't fade too quickly, and once they start fading it is only to a certain extent. Β To be safe, many of my pure watercolor drawings are kept in binders, UV protected frames, or in a spot that doesn't see much sunlight; however, most of the time I only use those watercolor for accents or a base layer. Β Then I go over top of them with maker, colored pencil, and other materials. Sometimes there isn't much watercolor showing when I am finished.Β

Do you mind if I use your water color style and make it my own? I love to draw and I want to paint. I will give you credit if I post them but I don't like I will.
Thank you...

Would just the fur part work ok with watercolor pencils? One of my dads co-workers got some for me since she liked my other traditional work, and I would like to do something similar to this on a thank you card I am making forΒ her.

you got me interested in painting but I have a lot to go
um one queshion im not very good at sketching so how would I be able to draw wild life better?

Drake-Darkess In reply to LyricalxM0nst3r [2014-04-25 23:44:32 +0000 UTC]
The main thing with sketching is practice c: When it comes to wildlife, it is good to simply observe plants, and practice drawing what you see. For animals, it always helps to look up their skeletal and muscle structures. You don't have do any kind of in depth research, just observe how the bones and muscles affect the look of the animal itself. Simply observe how something curves or pokes out. If you at least have a basic understanding of how the bones and muscles should look, it will help you in drawing it. Does that help you any? c:

great tutorial, may I ask what brand of water color you use. And what other kinds of water color would work with this tutorial

KatyLipscomb In reply to crochetkitty29 [2013-10-06 14:44:56 +0000 UTC]
Hey! I am using Dr. PH Martin's concentrated watercolors in this tutorial; however, many brands would work with this! Β It might be sort of hard to get the same effect with cheaper brands like roseart and crayola, but if you know what you're doing you might even be able to get those to work for you.Β

Thank you for this! I love your artwork and use of color and always wondered how you managed so many colors while keeping the painting... together. I got a lot of inspiration from you for my art style this year (working mainly with oil paints) for color, and you do an amazing job using so many colors without them clashing- thank you again for this it's a great insight to your work! <3
