Wow, I've tried to do this exact sort of thing (skeletal sketch, then adding little layer of detail by little layer of detail, until a final picture comes out.) Well... I wasn't nearly as successful. T.T Gave up an died a little inside. xD

Nice Katie! Studies are important! (and fun!)

Say, were you intentionally working in that top-left-to-bottom-right fashion? Because that seems kind of counterintuitive. Maybe try to go for the big shapes and contrasts a bit more? =0 I'm not sure how you usually work though, maybe you were just trying something new! Which is always good! And the thumbnail reads well in the end, so it's no problem I guess. Still, surprised! :'D
