KDS has to be one of my favorites of the Ghibli movies. This was a very short scene in the movie but from what I got from it, it seemed she was a bit unsure about where she was and/or missing home. For me, it isnt too far removed from my experience living in Japan and Ive had the same feeling from time to time.

I feel a sort of kinship with KDS, as it was the first Ghibli film I ever saw, and it came out just two days after I was born.
I love this piece. Looking at her experession almost makes me with that KDS was an actual show, because we would've gotten to see her grow and grapple with her interal struggles for longer.
Then again, KDS is perfect as it is
