It's mentioned in the manga that Genos's hair is synthetic fireproof stuff. I think only his brain and maybe his spine is left now

Genos is a foil-a character opposite to the main character. Their differences interacting teaches us more about Saitama. Also, without Genos, the story would be nothing but Saitama sitting at home, occasionally choosing to face a monster, and killing it with one punch. Having a student to juggle literally makes the story.

The aptitude of the teacher doesn't define the status of the student.

Genos thinks he is a student, therefore he is a student. He learns from everything he sees. And even if Saitama's speach about developing the mind was a crapshoot, he was right. If Genos develops his mind, he might not let his guard down all the time.

Also, without the pressure to seem like a teacher, Saitama wouldn't be rising in the hero ranks. Once again, it would be a show of a guy sitting, then occasionally killing with one punch.

I'm just saying this picture as well as others are portraying him as this badass when he clearly isn't, like you are saying, he's just a plot device.

Aren't all characters plot devices? That doesn't mean we can't enjoy them as characters.

 I dunno, his intense attitude is pretty bad-%%%, even if the results aren't always a win. He couldn't be S class if he fails as much as we've seen. And he survives a huge ton of insane crap.

tell that to the millions of people that practically made a religion of making fun of character "Yamcha", they don't care how bad -%%% his attitude is or what he survives. he has no reason at all to be on the battlefield because the real heroes don't need his help what so ever.

Is this story about battlefields, or about heroes trying to keep their jobs? You have to keep in mind what the intended conflict of the story is.

I understand, there is no intended conflict. its a superhero parody. the action is fun to watch and it has jokes thrown in it. there is nothing to get invested in because you already know hero is going to win and by the same means he always does(because conveniently he never had to deal with a hostage situation). but the point I'm trying to make its is, the show makes it very very clear that there is only one hero in the show that matters. so I don't know why there is artwork like this that builds up the nullified sidekick as being more important than he actually is.
