Sooo, I just recently fell in love with all the realistic Pokemon paintings by ... So I decided to create some kind of a "fan-fanart" ^^ I created everything by my own, it took many many hours of work, but it was soo much fun!! And I surely asked for his permission to post this!
He really really liked it (which made me soo happy, cause he is a huge rolemodel for me) and maybe we are even going to do a collab/trade some time!! Soo about this painting: Lapras was always one of my favourite Pokemon.. I imagined it to look like some kind of a big calm and friendly seaturtle mixed with a oceanic dinosaur. I soooo wish Pokemon were real, it would be the best thing ever!! D:

This picture is amazing!! I love how you added in the details of your interpetation while still keeping it similar to the best piggyback-er ever known to mankind. I love the details of the plants and sea life growing between the spires on its shell and how you were able to incorporate the beak and feelers infront of the horns to show your view of it's close dinosaur relations. I love how no detail skipped your mind and that no matter if they share your views or not, no one will be confused as to what you wished to portray. I am a huge fan of your art, I'm pretty sure I've favorited every one of your masterpieces by now and everytime you blow my mind with your talent and skill. Keep working at it and thank you for deciding to share your visions with the world!!!

An absolutely excellent rendition of both a realistic pokemon, and as a fan work. When I first saw the thumbnail, I honestly thought it was Arvalis' work himself. Only in reading the artist comments did I realize it was not.
At first, I was only going to give you four stars for Originality, since you are imitating someone else. But looking at the design you implemented, all the small details like the whiskers raising out of the top and side of the head, the texture of the shell, and especially the sea-life added onto the shell as if it were part of the sea bed...I love it all. I couldn't even remember what the original Lapras looked like, only this image filled my mind because it seemed so accurate.
Overall, I think this is an excellent adaptation, both as a fanart for the game and for the artist.

Wow. The first thing I thought when I saw this was: ERMAHGERD THAT IS THE MOST EPIC LAPRAS I'VE EVER SEEN!
And that is the exact thing about being a quality artist; making it crystal clear for the viewers what was your goal to draw.
I don't even have to mention the use of shading and light. And all the details show that you put very much effort in your paintings. Believe me, it sure pays off. You have become a new role model for me. I really love this piece (and of course, I always make sure I catch one of these cuties when I play!)
But...there is only one thing I keep asking myself: How much better would it look if it actually had a background?
And although I adore Pokemons, I would really like to see more creatures of your own design!
By then, I sure expect more and more awesome paintings of yours to come!

I enjoyed your use of textures on the body of lapras, as well as the rocks and barnacles on the shell. The coloration is just right as is the scale size of pokemon to human (though in the show it is smaller). I think, based on the amount of people shown sitting on it in the show, your version is more correct than theirs. The blending of colors from cream to blue to grey is well done, as is the shadowing of the neck and shell.
The only thing I really have a problem with is the eyes. They aren't to scale with the rest of lapras and look rather... well... small, and squinty. Other than that, your interpretation of lapras is pretty spot on.

I love how Lapras looks like a believable real creature, but still hasn't lost its innocent and gentle touch.

Amazing picture but you forgot that Lapras is half Ice type.

I'm not so sure about the ram horn. I thought Lapras's horns were more coral-like than curly.

I would think that Lapras would be one of the easier ones. You don't really have to modify the design any way. It already is one of the most realistic looking pokemon.

For a moment, I wasn't so sure if I would want to see Delcatty (one of my favorites) in your version, but Lapras remedies this, because he isn't so creepy, yet still a Lapras. xD Nice job.

If Pokemon were real... I think I'd have a Growlithe. Easy to raise, can use fire but no spontaneously combusting body parts to burn down my house with... and it can SENSE EVIL.
