Description This was just a project update photo, but I liked the angle a lot and that white void in the upper left made me decide to work at making this a possible Poster. The final shot would not have all the clutter, obviously. Comments?

I have 2 of these and want to paint them up.  Yours are the best I have seen on the net. after seeing this I don't think I could do it justice.  Keep up the great work.

Oooh, very nice! I'm surprised there aren't that many steampunk barrel breaks. It's always mavericks for some reason :/
I'm planning on painting/adding things to mine to make some sort of art-deco piece. Any suggestions to make sure it still functions? (painting moving parts, etc.)

Just be aware that the parts that slide against each other rub the paint off pretty quick. I'd suggest trying to use vinyl dye for the bits, but the stuff is messy so do a bit of reading on it before you possibly muss up a nice barrel break! Hope to see it when you're done!

Very kind of ya and welcome to dA! I sanded the body down and then did the base coats depending on what was to be painted on top. Mostly black and then I drybrush and was on the additional metallic detail and such. I use varying colors of brown for the wood and leather grips. I did this a bit ago so I've worked on improving things that I thought I could have done better on this one. None the less, I really liked it as well and appreciate your comment!

Nice! Painting the barrels makes it look so much better than leaving them unpainted. If I wasn't broke I'd go out and buy a load of Nerf guns and paint them up!

That would be cool! Start with some smaller ones, they're not more than 8-10.00 usually!

Ever since i saw this gun ive been inspired to make my own. I have a plan for how i want mine to look (dont worry i wont copy yours) but i have to ask because i think its amazing and cant pull it off, how did you accomplish the worn metal look? every time i try it looks terrible. >.>
if youve already explained how to do it in a different entry and i missed it i apologize.

No problem and I'm glad it's made you want to work on one of your own look up drybrushing online or on YouTube, that will give you some techniques to work on. Just build your skills from there!

Well sadly I'm a teenager who couldn't wait to make this and decided to try my method which is sanding. Didn't come out as well as yours but I like it. I will look into dry brushing for later projects though.
I would love to hear your opinion on my gun though. I uploaded it a few minutes ago so you should be able to find it through my profile.

DO WANT! still haven't seen one down under, i'll keep looking.
In the meantime i'll just have to destroy some more weapons with dodgy mod jobs, there's nothing sadder than a broken longshot

Haha, I hear you. I have a box of nerf skeletons. Just waiting to rise from the dead!

i took out the AR, padded the plunger with a rubber stopper, added an NF spring and shaved down the bolt to accomadate the large bolt and... every second shot jams and the ones that don't get bugger all range
