Description Acrylic on canvas. I did this as a Christmas present for my mother some years ago. It was done from a painting from a German nun, sister Hummel. Her paintings and drawings were the basis for the little ceramic figurines called "Hummels" which come from Germany. My wife and I tend to give prints of this painting for newlyweds and expectant mothers as a blessing for the family.

beautiful. i love your religious themed work. I need to get into that very soon as one of my top priorities is to begin working on masonic art.

Beautiful. The color balance and drawing style reminds me, just a little, of Strudwick, whom I adore. Nice one!

Thanks Eros. Wish I could say the style was one I had created... sadly no.

How are things going in Myth land?

Hi Eros,

I had to jog my memory with a google search. I have seen Strudwick before, looks to be a Pre-Raphaelite. I have a few books on the school in my library. I'll have to dust them off and spend a little more time with them. The paintings of Strudwick I saw on the internet were excellent.

Sister Berta Hummel was a nun from Bavaria in the early 1900's. Her talent was painting and her style unmistakable. I was searching for a religious painting to do for my Mom ( a devout Catholic), but would also communicate my love for her as her child. It is hanging in her living room

All the Best

Jim

Wow. What a sweet story. I appreciate your sharing that with me. We mature people understand these things. Yes I'll have to look up Sr. Berta Hummel. I did not know her works.

Thank you Deathgasm. Should always give credit to the original. Next time you are in a store that sells little ceramic figurines, take a look at a "Hummel" and you will see the style.
