The floor at the left seems curved and doesn't seem to connect into a corner to the other edge.

yes it seems too curved, i made it in a hurry without too much attention to accuracy because i was just trying to explain about the value. actually on the final artwork, the floor is also slightly curved.
the floor on the left is connected with another edge. for more details, i've made a floor plan of the room on the second tutorial.
