It feels like forever since I posted anything to DA that wasn't a Nineteen-Ninety-Something strip, but with the craziness of the holidays, I just didn't have the time or energy to create anything else. But now all that nuttiness is over, I have some much needed time off, and I can do some extra stuff on the side again. Like this adventurous scene, inspired by a conversation I had with Son-Void recently!

We got to talking about how we both draw so many geeky characters underwater, and I brought up another one of those obscure underwater scenes from my past that ended up inspiring me. This time, it was a late '90s Disney Channel original movie called The Thirteenth Year, about a kid who turns into a merperson (as we all know, Disney Channel movies have never been big on plot). In the big action climax, his mer-mom gets snagged in a fishing net, and it's up to mer-boy's dorky comic relief best friend to dive down to the depths and save her fin-clad butt. Son-Void was interested in seeing the scene for himself, but it's nowhere to be found on YouTube. So I just drew it instead! And goddamn, are fishing nets ever hard to draw...
