I like both the films and Tolkiens books.But it was a bit silly that romance in the film even if it was kind of cute.I liked Tauriel and Kili as characters though. And sure.. Why not?
As usual you cant get everything you want in a book or a movie but we have our imagination and fanfiction luckily! This picture is heartwarming and heartbreaking at once and so beautifuly painted!

The relationship between Kili and Tauriel was kind of forced, it was too fast. If they had more time, then maybe it would make more sense. Kind of like the friendship between Legolas and Gimli; they got to know each other better, and they spent more time on it. But with Kili and Tauriel, there wasn't enough time to achieve such a deep relationship. (just to be clear I DO NOT ship anyone, I am just voicing my opinion)

Now, I don't want to ruin the feels, but if "it was real", by a year later she is supposed to have faded.
Also back in my time, insulting and threatening your king in front of an audience was rather susceptible your earn your a nice littleΒ darkΒ cell for a few nights or a at least a banishment. Before any paternal hugs that is.
