For 's March theme: Seahorse.

It's been ages since I last contributed to DA's finest club, I so wanted to do the birdhouse-theme last month but just couldn't find the time.

But this month I had to MAKE time, because the seahorse is such a fascinating little creature!

Here are some interesting facts:

- Like a chameleon, the seahorse is able to change its colour, by means of camouflage. When it's at the bottom of the sea it will have a sandy colour and when it's higher up the colour will change to blue/aqua. And when they hide between coral or seaweed...well you get the idea.

- The seahorse is capable of using its eyes independently , which is convenient because it can search for food with one eye, and look out for predators with the other.

- The most remarkable fact is that it is the male seahorse who is pregnant and gives birth to baby-seahorses. The female seahorse just drops her eggs in the male's pouch where he fertilizes them. Then he carries the babies for 2-3 weeks until they are born. Unfortunately after pregnancy and giving birth, poor daddy is often so exhausted that he dies soon afterwards.

Watercolourpencils, Ecoline watercolour/ink, salt (seasalt of course), and a bit of PaintshopPro to deal with scanner issues.
