October Monthly Community Challenge: Haunted.
Many of our characters have witnessed, experienced, or done things that linger on their mind, haunting their waking moments or their fitful sleep.

Not all phantoms are born of horrors and not every haunting memory will pull its victim from sleep with terrified screams. Sometimes, the ghosts of the past live deep in the heart and although they still bear painful teeth and claws, it isn't horror they provoke.

Once upon a time, Ysenlin and Brutus shared a tender relationship. The latter had been a pillar in Ysenlin's life after the death of her father and from the rubble of loss, feelings of romance blossomed. Any relationship they hoped to share was doomed from the start; magic, the very thing that initially brought them together, would eventually be at the root of what pulled them apart as the southern pack began to fracture.

In time, Brutus would journey west and Ysenlin travel would east. Not that the east would keep her.

Within mere months, 'Lin would find herself inside Stonehaven's borders, facing Brutus near daily. Mostly, they avoided each other and kept cordial when interaction was necessary. But those with a keen eye might notice the accusing undertones of the words they shared or the lingering glances between them. How each haunted the other with thoughts of what once was and could have been if only... If only...
