Description 9" X 12" study for a larger oil painting based on the Photography work of *eaross This is from a photo I fell in love with December of last year, and have wanted to paint it ever since. I decided to do the study because I've been away from oils for so long. Plus I would understand what I wanted to use in my color palette for the larger painting. You can see the photo I worked from
I asked Ernie and he gave his permission to work from his photographs, for they are not stock. He takes wonderful photos of animals, birds, and other wild life. Check out this man's work.

I enjoy winter paintings; the snow creates interesting textures on rocks and plants.

If you look at some of the work when I first joined DA you will see that this fits in with the Mt. Laguna Snow pictures, and the impressionistic paintings. They are on page 10 to 12 of my gallery. I love painting snow paintings, and I do them in both watercolors and oils. I was born in Michigan and lived in Pittsburgh Pa. when young so I love snow, and love to paint it. I love painting with texture, and I am going to paint this much larger. It's just too hot in the summer to work in my studio, so I wait until fall to paint with oils out there. I will be painting more in oils in the coming months. I'm glad you like it...Annie

ah ic, that piece is a very beautiful painting as well! i'm having a hard time finding it, as i'm nt a subscriber and thus i can only view 12 thumbnails in a page. Its on page 65 instead It must be fun to live in snow, I never experienced that as Malaysia doesnt have 4 seasons! Looking forward for you oil paintings!

Thank you, but it's only a 9" X 12" painting. I have a 24" X 30" board out, but then decided to be wise, and find out what the difficulties might be in painting this snow scene. I want it to have the look, and effect of snow falling as in your photo so we will see what happens on the big one. I'm glad you like it, and now that it's cooler I will be painting in the studio more.
