The others have said all the compliments I wanted to say (so you're probably a little tired of it -- but I do love the anatomy here).
However, I'm now curious: was this all pencil? Or did you used a pen for the outline?

...somehow I've completely forgotten about the existence of differing density levels of lead in pencils.
In my defense, I asked that question late at night, when my brain has stopped functioning.

Haha that's fine! I think a lot of people don't know that mechanical pencils have different leads because they tend only to be sold at specialty stores and online. I had to hunt them down on Amazon.

Good to be remembered of online sources. In the local shops, I can't even get anything softer than HB, so I kept believing anything after that would be too soft, hehe...

When you go 'off the page' like that with the tail sweeping around - how do you exactly get it to match? Do you just kinda wing it and hope it looks right (which it does) or use a tool or extra paper and then just scrap that piece?

Instantly faved seeing you post! Again just an instant masterpiece. What can I say? The mastery of everything you touch is evident and anatomy, but what I think really impresses me the most is how you handled the different values in the lineart! I can't think of any artists offhand that do that. Really shows a great deal of atmospheric perspective and mood without having to have any values or color. Your linear work is nothing but perfection. I don't know how you do it.
