A comment by ~adox-tnw on "Deatmask 1" made all sorts of gears inside my head click, whirr and turn...The comment, atleast the important bit, was "...another version of these "death masks" with tribal tatoos all over it and a bandana..." and this is what it sparked: a "Pirates of the Caribbean" promotional art imitation
I really like the style Disney, or whoever designed the PotC promotional art, made the wallpapers and posters in and I thought I'd see how close how I could get to it myself.IMHO, I got really, really close and despite me 'merely' imitating an existing style, I really, really like the result
There's just something about it that echoes that special adventure feel...Whatever it is to me or you, this is the first of three in total: I'll make some character ones, too

A nice rendition, and I'd have to agree that you got very very close. I think I prefer your style over their's by just the tiniest hair. Anyway, very cool, and I hope to see some more like that.

I imagine! Can I ask how long it took for you to piece everything together? I make banners and stuff for myself and friends in forums and sometimes it takes me forever and they never come out as seamlessly as this! Just wondering

oh wow! i love it! the background looks fantastic - nice and "grungy" and dirty and dark. the tattoo looks great - it really follows the skull!

That's it man! looks amazing! The tribal tatoo is hella COOL... it fits the skull's form flawlessly. And it was the perfect decision to make the bandana green, that way it sticks to the caribbean jungles and such... and YES: "it echoes that special adventure feel..."
