Before typing out this critique, I would just like to say that I am typing this from the perspective of a fellow artist, and not that of a craftsmen with any skill in the art of jewelry making.
With that in mind, I find this necklace to have a beautiful form to it. I love the symbolic manner of the owl--it is only a basic interpretation, yet it is unmistakable. The beads in the eyes are a lovely touch, and the wings are really unique. I like how the tail of the owl has a slightly asymmetrical touch to it--I am not sure if that was the intent of the artist, but I appreciate the slight lack of balance, giving the owl a more organic feel. Also, from the perspective of someone who likes to wear a lot of necklaces, I appreciate how it is attached to the chain (or in this case, ribbons). It's nice because it doesn't look like it would turn all the time, and when I have necklaces like that it drives me crazy!
While an owl is a subject matter that has been used in necklaces time and time again, to me this is a refreshing take on one of my favorite creatures.

Thank-you so much for your critique, it's really appreciated!
The asymmetry of the owl actually was intentional, only because I was intending to put him perched on a little branch, but by the time I got to it, the owl was already quite big and it would have ended up being too large for a pendant!
I'm glad you think his lack of balance adds to the pendant!

You're welcome, and I am glad that you decided to keep him off a perch. It really is lovely!
