I've always loved Mcquarries work as well
the prequels really suffered without him
there were very few memorable designs

I agree! I wish Lucas would have consulted some help script wise. The worse stuff being dialogue and love interests. Β The first film was a bomb but all three contained moments I did like. Β I held onto all my all trading cards for Mcquarries work. There are some great reproductions in the illustrated Star Wars Universe book I found on discount rack. Β

As you say , all three had some good stuff , but they just never really felt like Star Wars to me
The clean smooth spacecraft in the prequels made no sense , when the X wings , Y fighters and M Falcoln , were already very, very Β old in the first {77} movie
I could understand seeing Β X wings in good condition and new , but for the craft to look so different made no sense
plus the over reliance on cgi really killed things
CG stormtroopers was Β a step too far
