Description I've been pretty busy lately between work, trips, and just life in general. But I managed to squeeze a drawing in. I was commissioned by a customer in Canada to draw this portrait of a proud father with his newborn son. It was a fun drawing to do. I tried to do contrasting skin textures with the rough, aged skin of the father with the smooth, new skin of the baby. I hope I succeeded with that.

This was my first time drawing on Arches paper. It's a very expensive, imported paper. Some of the greats like Salvador Dali used Arches. I probably won't be drawing on this paper anymore though. In my opinion it's way to expensive for what it is. The Fabriano Hotpressed that I've been using for years is just as good and it's cheaper.

Also, some really exciting things have happened recently. A few of my drawings will be featured in DickBlick Art Materials' product catalogs very soon. They will be located by the Derwent pencils. And I am in talks with Dickblick about doing an endorsement for Blick Studio Drawing pencils. This endorsement would mean that I would use Blick's pencils exclusively. They sent me a set and I am trying them out to see if I like them first. Dickblick is an awesome company that I've been dealing with for years. They are the biggest art materials supplier in the United States. So a lot of exciting things happening lately and a lot of opportunities to further my work

Geeze! That is so sweet! I like the balance to your close cropped composition. It’s very interesting. You have put a beautiful countenance on both of the faces. Wonderful range of values with plenty of contrast. Gorgeous technique. It's another sterling piece of work from you!
