Description If you happen to be a child of the 80's, I'm sure you could name dozens of characters from your youth that captured your imagination on Saturday morning cartoons. To me, they're a part of why I consider the 80's to be the greatest decade of my life. They were all about flashy effects, rock 'n roll themes and promoting toys. I wanted to honour that era with a massive group shot of characters from over seventy of your favourite shows. This took two weeks to do - the longest I've worked on any single picture.

This image was inspired by the cover of Capcom Design Works . The title in the top-right is the theme song of The Raccoons . I feel it best represents the spirit and energy of 80's animation, and it's something I used to listen to a lot while working on this pic. Someday I hope to draw an adjoining picture with characters from 90's cartoons. Two points to bear in mind: there are no anime shows featured (otherwise the pic would be twice as big as it already is) and there are no British shows. Even though I'm a Brit myself, I will happily admit that my country's own animation is utter pump. I mean, c'mon. Jimbo? Bananaman? Superted? Gimme the frickin' SPACE BATTLES!!

IF YOU NEED TO KNOW WHO'S WHO, YOU CAN CHECK A REFERENCE IMAGE HERE , BUT TRY AND GUESS AS MANY AS YOU CAN FIRST.

The 80's was a time of pure energy, vibrancy and high-octane action in cartoons. Granted it was a very toyetic era, but nobody cared because the intros were so damn awesome. It's a shame today's cartoons don't put as much effort into animating eye-popping intros any more.

No, the very first episode premiered on December 17th 1989, so technically it's an 80's cartoon.

If that's so, that automatically means SpongeBob and EEnE is a 90s cartoon then?

Good observation! With the mean age of Deviants veering more towards the 90's and 00's generation, it's refreshing to see a viewer who recognized this many cartoon characters from my childhood.

Obviously I couldn't fit in every 80's cartoon and I left out British titles because they're generally subpar, but Pole Position is featured. You can see Dan and Roadie at the front of the pack.

Ha ha! That's good to hear. Spartakus was more popular in certain European countries, but I doubt the show made much impact in the States so it's no wonder people have a hard time remembering it. I had a similar experience. I couldn't remember the name of a 90's cartoon about a group of mice that lived in Washington D.C. and dealt with various social and political themes. It was only when I asked about it on IMDB that somebody suggested "Capitol Critters". It's great when someone provides an answer to something stuck in the back of your mind.

But I think that Voltron also is an Anime, better said animation from Japan and it is called Beast King Go Lion. However Voltron is the most popular United States and Netflix released its actual series of same . I am used to watch this Anime with American version and I unknown original version , but also I watch some times Shin Chan with 52 episodes and including I watch more with Japanese version, but also is dubbed in Spanish. Between Voltron and Shin Chan are censored series by Vitello Production.

Speaking about cartoon that I used to watch TRANSFORMERS G1 and I had more development in history and that... For example Bumblebee or Iron Hide (Dead obvious) wasn't be a protagonist like fist and second seasons and now was a secondary character, only Kup, Arcee, Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Galvatron has lost identity of Megatron, Quitenson, etc. And asking if people didn't like anymore without Optimus Prime and his original team after of the movie.
