THE FORWARD
First, see the character bio below for more info on Luca. Now for the other part I wanted to get out of the way. This is my FIRST attempt at any sort of digital coloring in any sense. I popped my sketch over to an online picture editor (link in the closing) and started outlining and coloring and burning and dodging. Yes, I'm aware that the lines are a little think and not clean at all. I was using a mouse and I can't really draw with a mouse and after several frustrating attempts I settled for what you see here, it was a first try and I knew I'd just drive myself nuts trying to be an absolute perfectionist about. Yes, I kinda went nuts with the burn tool to shade it in a bit and I'm sorry about that, I was just testing things out while going through this whole process. I really wished the eye had come out better as I pride myself in being able to draw those pretty well, but I guess I'll just need some extra practice for next time. The whole thing took me a little over an hour and while I know that's a long time for what there is, you have to remember that it's my first attempt and I had several moments where I had to undo and retry. Anyway, now that all that is outta the way, let's get to the actual picture...

Appearance
Luca definitely looks a little younger than he is due to certain experiments resulting in his aging process slowing a bit. He's not very large of stature, quite slender without any broadness and generally seems a bit pale, even sickly at times, though he's perfectly healthy (relatively). His hair is an light shade of purple with the tips being more of a deep pink that seem to have an almost flame pattern to them. His eyes are aqua and his skin is fair. The arms that sprout from him are red with long, copper colored claws.

Abilities/Powers
Due to being a test subject for so long, Luca suffered two side effects. The first is his body aging slightly slower than others and his slow metabolism. He can go a much greater period of time without food or water, even sleep. The most prominent new feature though are the one to six extra arms that can sprout from his back (sometimes at will and sometimes purely reflexive). He exercise some control over them, but they can operate independently from time to time (typically when his emotions run rampant or his being threatened). The arms are relatively fast and very strong.

History
Luca comes from a humble and happy background in an rural community with his parents and siblings. When his home, family and neighbors were attacked by an unknown party, Luca found himself and several other children being captured and sold off. Typically, most children would have become slaves and other such things, but Luca found himself actually submitted for pseudo-scientific (even occult) research as a test subject. He was subjected to a great deal of experimentation that ranged from mildly uncomfortable to practically torturous (almost to the point of being fatal). At one point or another a rather add side-effect of all these tests came to notice. Luca suddenly had the ability to cause several extra appendages (arms) sprout from his back. Interested in how this functioned, Luca was rendered unconscious while the men operating the whole project attempted to remove one of the arms for closer inspection. However, the arms seemed to work a bit independently from the boy and while Luca was unconscious on the table, the arms killed all the researchers. When Luca woke, he left the place without anyone to stop him and ventured out on his own.

Some time passed as Luca wandered, managing to survive on his own and keeping away from others for free of persecution for his bizarre ability. But though he was jaded from his experiences, he never managed to shake off a basic need...companionship. He yearned more and more for interaction with others, those that wouldn't condemn him for his plight. The answer to all of this may not have come in the most ideal setting or scenario, but Luca has made peace with his place. He works now as an assistant, able to multitask remarkably well with his extra limbs and learning more and more how to control them. He's often used for restraining others since his other arms makes such a task as grappling much easier for him. He spends his off time learning the secrets of his new trade and trying to generally be useful where he can. Anything beats being alone, is generally how he looks at things now and better to do onto others before they get a chance to do onto you...

Personality
Luca is quite the introvert and a bit moody or grim at times. It comes with his background. He often finds some natural conversations to be a bit awkward, especially when he's expected to offer more input or react in some way (as he keeps his emotions carefully in check be them positive or negative). Inside he genuinely isn't a bad person, just able to shut off any sense of morality in order to cope. Like a loyal dog, he might lick the hand of any master that offers him and home and meal, no matter their conduct. He's quite intelligent, but doesn't choose to flaunt it, just offer it where the input seems relevant and if he determines it's safe to voice. He tries to keep a relatively monotone, but during stress can emote like any normal person. He tries to look at the brighter (safer) side of things, even when participating in acts he would otherwise find distasteful, because any activity you get to be a part of is better than being left out and he's sure he could learn to tolerate or even “like” a few new things.

Hobbies/Habits
Luca likes reading, he often does it in his off-time. He has developed a bit of a fascination with the art of restraining (bondage) and likes to get chances to see what he can come up with, much like a child trying to build a better mousetrap. His new found interest in it does alarm him a little, but he likes to pass it off as harmless fun...as long as it IS harmless.

Well, that concludes this piece and it was a lotta new stuff for me that was happy to try out...though it was a bit straining both physically and emotionally at times, I really want to get more practice in where I can.
