I am so very proud of this artwork. After a much needed break I have come back into doing artworks and my first one since coming back is this piece of Pocahontas. I have a great deal of love for Disney and some of the "princesses" that "have a backbone" - the ones that stand up for themselves and fight back, rather than rolling over and allowing things to happen.

In the Disney classic Pocahontas did just that when she stood up to her father and her tribe, saved a life... but also stopped a war of senseless killing that was due to start purely because of misunderstandings. She was also a person from real history, but the Disney version is the tale that inspired my artwork.

EDIT: I had originally given Pocahontas softer facial features, but the more I looked at it, the more and more it began to irritate me that I hadn't gone with the proper "disney" look. So I redrew her with her proper facial features, but I did play with her hair to make it more fluffy. Still can't get her necklace to look right though.
