Description
Inspired by the pegasus mates from Disney Fantasia, Pastoral Symphony, I decided to paint the pair in their nesting tree and night with the stallion on a higher branch watching over his mare. I used a screencap of the stallion as a pose reference, while I did most of the mare from scratch. However, I did tweak their designs in the case of wings, manes (making them long and flowing rather than short and mohawk like) and head shape - just so they vary from the disney style rather than being a direct copy.

I also had to use a tutorial as a reference point for the stallion's wings as I was severely struggling with the folded position. The tutorial I used was for wings on people, but it worked for what I needed, so a big thanks to the artist for their brilliant artistic skills and genius in understanding wings. And as my usual habit dictates, I had used some premade pieces of horse mane and color changed the pieces as necessary for the stallion (man I love his black and purple color scheme).

EDIT: Since first doing this artwork I had never really been happy with the wings that I had given the mare. Well I finally fixed her, and gave her a makeover. Painting white horses always makes them look plastic wrapped in my style, so I gave her some dappling to give her some definition. I am much happier with the wings that I gave her, which are the same style as the stallions now. They look much better suited than the weird old style I had originally drawn them in.
EDIT 2: I realised that the placement for the mares wing was off, so I have fixed that up. I also tweaked the nest slightly, and added some extra shadows to define her placement in the nest more. I'm now completely happy with this piece.
