Once again I have returned to the wonderful world of deviantART... by uploading yet another birthday present, except this time it is for a friend of mine outside of dA and in the real world, as it were. My best pal Damian is an awesome guy and I can count on him for just about anything.... and it's his birthday on the 20th October... yeah, I'm early loading it up here.. but I can't load it onto my Facebook page just yet otherwise he will see it. I'm being sneaky.

Anywho, I willingly drove myself insane for 3 days straight doing this artwork for his birthday, and it is a painting of his beloved 'white steed' (aka motorbike): a Kawasaki Ninja 650L. This thing is a magnificent machine and I am fortunate enough to have seen it in person and actually touch it. Fingers crossed that my pal will like what I've done with it.

I'm not kidding though... this took my 3 days:
Day 1 = Drawing the lineart
Day 2 = Colouring and Shading the grey and white areas
Day 3 = Wheels, handlebars, windshield, other accessories, and text

I am having this printed tomorrow (the 17th) so that I can frame it and present it to him on his actual birthday. I may have driven myself absolutely bonkers painting this due to the shading style being far from my usual technique, but I think breaking my brain was worth it. Don't you?

Please note: The reference I used is of a 650... Damian's bike is a 650L (so that explains the change with the number), they look pretty much the same to me, so with any luck I don't think he'd notice much .
