Jareth is one hot mess of contradictions. He's charming, yet threatening. Seductive, yet cold. Capricious, cocky and spoiled, yet he carries a strong sadness within him, which is particularly palpable in the way he yearns for Sarah. He's seemingly invincible, yet strangely vulnerable, and that is something that becomes more and more obvious as the story progresses. In the Escher Room scene - when he sings "Within You", when he knows he lost the battle even though he's up for one last kick just because the rules say that the villain must persist till the end - he looks genuinely broken and tired. So tired he almost seems happy when Sarah defeats him and it's all over.
So, in my attempt to portray that bundle of contradictions, my principal facial expression was to frown but keep the slightest ghost of a smile at the same time. It's not an easy expression to maintain, but I hope it does get Jareth's nature across.
By the way, this is one of my favorite cosplay portraits so far. I really think that Shunak seriously kicked ass with this one.
