Description
Mai Shiranui is a skilled ninja with the unique ability to cast fire. She is known for her cheerful disposition and superficial attitudes towards others. She also harbours seemingly unrequited feelings for fellow ninja Andy Bogard, who once trained at her family's dojo. Mai competes in the King of Fighters tournament almost every year as the de facto leader of the Women's Team, a position she's held due to Andy's constant rebuttals of her advances.

Mai is one of the first ladies of the fighting game genre and is most often considered the closest rival to Chun-Li for the crown of the Queen of Fighting Games. She's the female face of SNK and has appeared in nearly every Fatal Fury and King of Fighters video game. Though she's obviously a fan service character who sometimes lacks depth, there's no denying how influential she's been within the genre. Mai is one of my personal favourite fighters and she's been one of the most memorable for me. She's got the speed and the style, two things which are always important to me when picking a fighter.

Since I decided to draw some more video game girls, Mai seemed like a logical choice for me to draw. I've only drawn her a couple of times and she's always been kind of fun to draw. Her appearance here is a little more reflective of some of the older games in the series, but it's still quintessential Mai.
