Breathtaking! The infared works incredibly well with the scene! How do you find that camera as I'm thinking of getting something like a nikon d3100 sometime?

overall, the d3100 is very good! But you should also consider buying a used D90, as they are quite cheap at the moment and nevertheless better performer

If you plan on converting a cam for IR, don't go for the D3100, the D90 is a way better choice

This is a great shot! The mood and atmosphere is potrayed well. And the focus is on the spot. For me, I would have boomified it just a tad with the contrast. I like my blacks in there to add some drama. Of course, if this was the effect you were trying to achieve, twilight-esque, then it's amazing just as it is.

hallo

looks at the comment below ...that's a tad distracting ....annnnwayy..

Love the tone in the pic, color choice gives a ghostly feel, to me: makes it almost seem like it wants to be black n white but didn't quite pull it off-but the results are excellant, the blending in the background gets your attention but then the darkness/reflective property of the lake draws you back evening out the picture nicely. The smokey mountain in the background distacts just enough to fully balance the image . By comparson the cloudy sky is just there to fill in the picture

Great image. Improvements...none for this image-sorry ...

You asked for folks to comment with improvements, but there aren't many to be had here. You pretty well nailed it.

Hi David - Very smart image indeed. As well as the composition (vertical and horizontal thirds), I admire the tone and colour palette you've achieved and the consequent mood of the shot. The pano aspects appear to have worked very well - I can't see any joins! Sharpening seems to me spot on. Do or have you used selective sharpening at all? For example, you could make the distant mountains a bit less sharp with respect to the middle distance - this is not a negative criticism, just an idea. I can't think of anything I don't like!!! Brilliant.

Cheers

David

Hi,
thank you very much I'm glad you like it! To be honest, I think this one is the best photograph I have ever taken
I have not yet worked with selective sharpening, but it sounds like a good idea. I usually do some noise reduction and sharpening as a last step in NeatImage. And sharpen once again after resizing for the internet. Looks like I exaggerated it this time ^^
As far as panoramas are concered, Kolor Autopano does an excellent job! All my Panos are shot out of the hand with partly over 21 exposures and no stitching mistakes!
I will give it another try and maybe upload it later. Thanks for your comment!
cheers, David
