Description Here I set sail on maiden wings,
the world within my palm,
A journey long, a venture wide,
a pathway strewn with calm.

I know not where this voyage leads,
but trusting is my heart,
A leap of faith, a simple step,
a silent, quick depart.

To better lands, to newer grace,
the place where I belong.
To warmer hands, to wider space,
where love becomes my song.

I love the granniness of this photograph, and how it seems so powerful and emotional if you keep looking at it and yet it is of something fragile..

I think it is amazing how a single picture can do such wonders to our imagination... this takes me right to my childhood, to runing in the fields with my cousins during the summer.

I like the grain in this photo, for me, it makes all the difference.

Good work.

Only the incredible wacker of eggs could photograph this so nicely, truly wonderful. It has a beautiful depth of field and the otmosphere in this one is incredibly strong. Very good Patrick

great poem and great subject matter!
it's about time someone was creative enough to capture this little aspect of life.
(would somebody pay eggwacker the money he deserves as a professional already?! )

beautiful

a wonderful delicate moment to catch just before the seeds leave the "security" of the stalk
I really love the diffused outline of the other grasses thingies (that would be technical term of course ) in the background

fine words yet again
what are you majoring in in university again?

eggwacker In reply to Argocat8 [2005-06-29 07:21:50 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the kind words, Karen.

Here's a shocker. I graduated university with a degree in computer science My dream job is to be a children's literature writer, and so I took creative writing classes along with my technical classes. Right now, I'm a software engineer who does writing and photography on the side. Maybe one of these days I can say that I'm a writer who does photography on the side.

Argocat8 In reply to eggwacker [2005-06-29 10:02:47 +0000 UTC]

you're welcome Patrick

that's not surprising really. You obviously have some right-brain tendencies with your photography, so writing parallels that talent
check this test out - which eye do you put to your viewfinder when taking pics? If it is your left one, you're right brained, which is reputedly more "creative"

eggwacker In reply to Argocat8 [2005-07-11 06:00:51 +0000 UTC]

Hi Karen!

Sorry for replying to this message so late. I actually read this the day that you wrote it, but didn't get a chance to reply before I left on my trip. What you said was really interesting, and it's been on my mind ever since.

I always put my right eye in the viewfinder. I tried putting my left eye and I can't imagine ever doing that. I guess that makes me left brained, which actually doesn't surprise me. I enjoy being creative (I've even participated in Odyssey of the Mind a creativity based competition here in the states since elementary school all the way through 12th grade), but I despite all that, I'm extremely logical in my thinking. If you take a careful look at the way I write, strict organization of thought governs the way I craft my words. I think part of that comes from being a perfectionist too (a real pain sometimes!).

Anyway, thanks for raising that thought and question. I found it highly interesting to think about!

Argocat8 In reply to eggwacker [2005-07-11 06:41:43 +0000 UTC]

hehe maybe given your profession you do use your left brain more, but I suspect you have plenty of active connections to the right-side of your brain too
well of course you do, otherwise you'd be in neurological trouble

tis interesting stuff though

eggwacker In reply to Argocat8 [2005-07-13 03:19:27 +0000 UTC]

heh

yes, very interesting. I'm going to ask around now to see which eye everyone uses
