And here we have Fubooty herself: The ever powerful Blizzard of Hell, Fubuki, subjected to a radical new experiment by some Esper researchers that unknowingly traded her psychic abilities temporarily for an increase in physical strength -- and more noticeably, a transformation into a mermaid, potentially useful for proactively dealing with aquatic threats before they can attack large cities. The demo quickly turned into a field test when Fubuki was called to deal with some vines that were beginning to expand their way towards the shore and before long into the city. Engaging them, but finding her powers no longer active, Fubuki found herself quickly ensnared.

As it turns out, the vines themselves would not cause direct harm, but would also not let their ensnared target loose easily, as Fubuki found, in addition to one other fact: the vines drive was primarily to tickle their victim, which would induce laughter that like music is theorized to do in other plants, would help with their expansion until they covered the planet. The plants proved to be a good deal more intelligent than expected --- not only did they know exactly where and how to tickle Fubuki, the plants positioned her tail such that the fin would brush against Fubuki's side as well, causing Fubuki's own traded advantage to instead act as nothing more than an additional way to tickle her.
