Description This is a thank-you gift that I did for my art teacher. Even though I've only had him for one semester, he's given me a lot of opportunities to share my work not only with the school, but nationwide.

Acrylic paint and nail polish on cockatoo feather.

How do you paint so well on such a small object? It looks really realistic!

Thanks!! I admit I did use a photo ref for the Golden Eagle, but basically I just, well... paint. I can't really explain how I do it except that a normal canvas doesn't really fit my style. It has to be something from nature or I don't paint right.

interesting idea. What did You do to make the feather hard?

Thank you!

I didn't make it hard, I just painted it. As long as I have a hard, flat surface underneath, I really don't need anything to hold it down, just painting with one hand and holding the feather with the other.
