Description Thought i'd share some of the process I used for this piece: dylanpierpont.deviantart.com/a…

Let me know if you have any questions. The basic idea was to block in the painting with a hard-edged square brush to establish the value patterns of light and dark and then go back over certain areas with a mixer brush to soften edges where needed.

Thanks for checking! (feel free to download for the hi-res version)

Amazing painting! May I ask what exactly brush did you use? I have some square brushes but every brush looks little different

Thanks so much! Sure thing. I used 3 brushes for this whole piece: A hard round brush (default photoshop) with opacity set to pressure sensitivity, a soft round brush (default photoshop) with opacity set to pressure sensitivity, and a square chalky brush that I used for 90% of the whole painting. The key was to paint everything with hard edges first and then go back over the piece with the hard round and square brushes as mixer brushes to soften certain edges.

You can download the brushes off my dropbox account here: www.deviantart.com/users/outgo…

may I ask how to create a mixer brush? so far I've been using a smudge tool to mix colours...

It's good that you asked. I just walked my friend through how I use it on the live stream the other night. I start going into it at 7:18. Hope this helps! www.livestream.com/dylanpierpo…
