Crash Bandicoot and Kao The KangarooOn an Island, a dark cloud falls to the ground and morphs into a spirit.
It looks at the grass surrounding it and touches it, slowly killing the grass as it succumbs to decay.
“Excellent. But I need more life force.”
Meanwhile on a neighboring island, Aku Aku feels a disturbance.
He goes to Crash Bandicoot who is currently sleeping on a couch.
“Crash wake up! Something is wrong!” Says Aku Aku.
Crash wakes up and sees the Dark Clouds forming at the neighboring island.
“I feel a disturbance and I have a feeling that those clouds are behind it.” Says Aku Aku.
Crash quickly runs outside and to his boat.
On the other Island, Kao the Kangaroo practices his boxing with his Dad, Koby.
“You’re doing well son!” Says Koby.
“Thanks Dad!” Says Kao.
Suddenly they feel a strong wind begin to blow.
They turn around and see the dark clouds coming their way!
The Dark Clouds combine and hit the ground turning into the spirit.
“I see you have a strong spirit. I like that.” Says the Spirit.
“Hey! What are you supposed to be?” Asks Kao.
“My name is Keres, and I’ve come for your lifeforce.” Says Keres.
“No way! My lifeforce is not for sale!” Says Kao.
“I wasn’t asking!” Says Keres.
Keres uses her hands to summon dark minions!
On the other side of the island, Crash and Aku Aku land ashore.
“The dark presence is growing stronger here.” Says Aku Aku.
Crash climbs up a tree to look around.
He sees Kao and Koby fighting the dark minions.
Crash quickly climbs down the tree and runs to the two to help them.
Kao and Kody continue battling the dark minions.
“Keep fighting. You will lose eventually. Says Keres.
Crash appears and kicks Keres in the face.
“You’ve got some nerve doing that to me!” Says Keres.
Kao joins Crash.
“We’ll have better luck if we work together.” Says Kao.
After a few minutes of fighting Keres was left on her knees.
“You are strong. All the more reason to absorb your life force!” Says Keres.
“Why are you doing this?!?” Asks Kao.
“I need lifeforce and consume Islands with strong energy. If that means destroying all living creatures, then so be it.” Says Keres.
“That’s not going to happen!” Says Kao.
“Oh, but it will. You’ll see.” Says Keres.
Keres touches the ground beneath her and absorbs the lifeforce of the Island itself!
This gives her enough energy to take off into the sky!
Everyone watches as the island slowly begin to decay.
“This is not good… If this continues our home won’t be safe anymore.” Says Koby.
Aku Aku appears.
“Well done Crash, however our work here is not done.” Says Aku Aku.
Crash frowns in disappointment.
“Hey don’t worry, we can stop her if we work together!” Says Kao.
“Indeed, we’d better get started.” Says Aku Aku.
Elsewhere in the sky, Keres tries to figure out her next plan.
“I must have that Kangaroo’s lifeforce! I’ll bet that Bandicoot will get in my way. Well, I guess I’m going to have to visit more islands to get stronger.” Says Keres.
She summons her dark minions and orders them to attack every Island with living creatures.
Elsewhere, Crash, Kao, and Aku Aku are in Crash’s boat on their way to where the Dark Clouds are.
They land on an Ice Island.
“This must be one of the Islands she’s consuming.” Says Kao.
They look to the mountains and see the dark minions syphoning it’s lifeforce.
They quickly head up the mountains and to their surprise see a Dark Goat!
“Our master knew that you would be here.” Says the Dark Goat.
“Well, she is trying to consume Islands. So of course we’re here to stop her.” Says Kao.
“That’s not going to happen. Your best chance is to surrender.” Says the Dark Goat.
Crash throws a snowball at the Dark Goat.
“Fine, we’ll do this the hard way.” Says the Dark Goat.
After a few minutes of fighting, the Dark Goat’s whole body is consumed by dark energy and it disappears.
All the Dark minions disappear as well.
“Looks like we managed to save this island.” Says Kao.
“Yes, now we must go to the next one.” Says Aku Aku.
They see Giant Bats flying overhead and decide to leap onto one each flying to their next destination.
They land on a Volcano Island and look around for the next attack.
“We have to be careful. We don’t know what kind of creature we might face next.” Says Aku Aku.
Crash roasts Marshmallows in the magma.
Suddenly, a giant Dark Lizard appears and glares at the group!
“Look at this, some small animals stuck their noses where they don’t belong.” Says the Dark Lizard.
“You’re the one who made it our business when you attacked these Islands!” Says Kao.
“Nothing personal. Just following orders from my Master. She also told me to take care of you, permanently.” Says the Dark Lizard.
After a few minutes of fighting, the Dark Lizard was left on the ground. His whole body is consumed my light and he disappears!
“That wasn’t so hard.” Says Kao.
Suddenly, a Dark Portal appears sucking in all of the Islands’ lifeforces!
Crash, Kao, and Aku Aku are sucked into the portal as well!
They land on the ground and try to get up.
“Is everyone ok?” Asks Aku Aku.
“I think so.” Says Kao.
Crash turns around, and sees Keres. He alerts the others.
“Welcome to my home. I hope you had a safe landing.” Says Keres.
“There you are! We’ve been looking for you!” Says Kao.
“So you have. I heard that you’re busy trying to stop me and my dark minions.” Says Keres.
“That is correct. The world cannot be consumed by darkness!” Says Aku Aku.
“Oh it will be. As soon as you realize that, the better.” Says Keres
Crash runs to Keres and attempts to kick her but she blocks the attack!
Kao leaps into the air and attempts to punch her but Keres dodges quickly out of the way!
“You must understand, you CANNOT defeat me!” Says Keres.
Keres throws Crash to the ground!
“Tell us, why are you doing this?” Asks Kao.
“It’s quite simple, I was human once. On one of my excursions I discovered a medallion. It consumed my entire body and granted me the power of darkness.” Says Keres.
“That power is making you evil!” Says Aku Aku.
“There is no such thing as good and evil. There is only power! Power, and those who wield it!” Says Keres.
“What about all of the innocent lives on those islands?” Asks Kao.
“They mean NOTHING!” Says Keres.
“You said good and evil doesn’t exist. But you sound pretty evil to me! You’re just a bully who wants to crush those who stand in your way!” Says Kao.
“This is why animals shouldn’t talk! They speak nonsense!” Says Keres.
Keres walks to Crash and Kao.
The two walk towards her, and slowly begin to charge!
After a few minutes of fighting, both Crash and Kao continue to attack Keres!
Kao punches her in the face and Crash leaps into the sky and kicks her in the forehead!
Keres falls to the ground defeated.
“We did it!” Says Kao.
Suddenly, the world begins to fall apart!
“Everyone! It’s time for us to go!” Says Aku Aku.
They run towards the portal!
“Don’t think you’ve won! Darkness can never be destroyed! Light and Darkness are one and the same! You think you’re destroying evil? You’re WRONG! That is just a word! You’ll see!” Says Keres.
The group runs to the portal and goes through it!
They land back on the Island. They see the Dark Portal slowly close and disappear.
“That was close.” Says Kao.
“Indeed it was.” Says Aku Aku.
The next day, Crash sleeps on a tree while Kao shadowboxes below.
“So you still thinking about what Keres said? About evil not existing? Just being a word?” Asks Kao.
Crash simply shrugs with a curled lip and unbothered eyes.
“Yeah. Shouldn’t worry about it too much. All we can do is, well, our best.” Says Kao.
And so, the two enjoy the rest of the beautiful day.
