Zipper Egg - Egg For Barbara

This project was a combination of two projects. The first was that we had to turn 6 eggs on the lathe based on an egg we brought in. This was an excersize in turning and repetition.
The second part: VCU got a grant from the Windgate Foundation to start a turning program. This provided us with enough money to get two new lathes (we had 2 already, this put us up to 4 floorstanding lathes). When we started the program, Barbara Dill, a woodturner in Goochland and a friend of Doug's, donated 4 mini lathes so that we could epxand the prgram - totaling our lathes at 8. So for the second part of the project we made Barbara a present to say thanks. Doug made a bowl and each of the people in the classes (beginning and advanced) took one of our eggs and modified it and we all put them in a basket to give them to Barbara.
