Description
These are probably the most recognisable ruins at Botallack mine.
The Lower Engine house (Crowns Engine house) contained a steam engine that pumped water from the Crowns engine-shaft.
The Upper Crowns Engine house (aka Pearce's Winding Engine house) served as a winding engine house that transported skips up and down the length of the Boscawen diagonal shaft to a depth of around 1475ft/450m.
