Task three of Session 17 of OC-training : Wardrobe - Design a set of clothes for your OC, color for reference.
This is the most items I've done for a wardrobe I blame the fact that I'm doing him at 20 and 60, there's a lot of differences in clothing choices
So here we go, buckle up!
1. Loungewear – A “sleep” robe, although I suspect not much sleep happens until after that particular outfit is off Emerald green silky material very loose on his thinnish frame.
2. King’s Own Wizard Uniform – This is what he wears when he’s “on-duty” as a healer or mage for King Raghnall. It makes it easier for people to locate him if he’s needed, although he tries to be available at all times for emergencies. This is also what he would wear if he ever had to go into battle for any reason. He has passible battle magic abilities that are very useful in a fight, although his specialty is shields and other defensive magic, which makes it unnecessary for him to wear armor.
3. Court Dress – This is something he would wear in more formal court settings where his uniform would seem out of place, especially balls or other types of celebrations where he isn’t required as a mage but he is required to be in attendance. Not that he would ever miss a chance to mingle with people and possibly find someone to take to his room for the night. He is quite adept at dancing and is in demand as a dance partner.
4. Daily wear – Something he would wear around Kentrell-by-the-Bend on a normal day when not “on-duty”. He prefers soft, flowy fabrics. He always has his wand with him, but he will make it invisible as an indication that he’s not being official as King’s Own Wizard, although he wouldn’t refuse anyone who needed his help.
5. Travel outfit – When he goes out wandering the kingdom, he does it literally. He’s found that walking he can find more people who need his help, riding on horseback is for speed and he has no need to be quick if the whole point is to stop in every house or village to see if anyone needs his abilities. Unfortunately, this comes back to bite him when he’s traveling back to Kentrell-by-the-Bend with his daughter, the journey is brutal and he is in terrible shape when he finally arrives, as shown in this picture - Tiernan Returns
6. Formal Casting Robes – If you remember Shok’Artel’s wardrobe Shok'Artel - Wardrobe , he had an outfit like this as well. There are types of magics that need to be cast during special occasions and festivals and this is what Tiernan would wear for those events. It’s a bit like a priest’s robes since mages are considered to be close to The Gods and serve as a representative of Them. The symbols on his robe represent all the gods of the world, the five-pointed flower on his chest represents the Bonded Five, the water and leaves represent the Earth Goddess, and the white color and hourglass belt buckle represent the Sky God. 7. Tiernan’s wand – Every mage has a wand that they make themselves as proof of their mastering their abilities. The wand is made of sharp metal and usually has one or more focus gems. The gems help collect and focus energy, and they must be smooth, not faceted, or the magic goes all directions. The blade helps to direct the magic and can be used as a secondary defense (all mages know knife fighting techniques) and also as a way to cast spells with blood. All mages can use blood for spells, the difference between someone like Tiernan and Shok is that Tiernan only uses his own blood, never from anyone else. Tiernan’s wand is fairly simple, he wasn’t interested in a lot of embellishments, he just wanted something utilitarian. A mage’s wand is made in such a way that only the maker can use it, in the hands of another mage it would be useless. Rysta is an exception because she can use Eriantielle’s wand due to being her reincarnation.
8. Sharisse’s ring – This is the ring that Tiernan made for his wife and it’s probably the prettiest thing he ever made. It’s magically forged and made to fit her finger perfectly. It also had a secondary use in that it would alert Tiernan of Sharisse’s physical state, she had several medical issues that he managed to keep in check with his healing abilities. If she needed him for any reason, he would know immediately. Alas, this did not help much since he was so far away from her when he got the alert about her being in labor that he didn’t make it back in time to be of any help. After her death he made a chain for it with no clasp, so it always stays on his neck no matter what.
9. Sleep robe – When he first goes into hiding, he is forced to make do with what he managed to take with him in his initial escape (he does manage to get other things later). This is an outfit he made (with Rose’s help) out of his previous mage robes, lined with fur since he seems to get cold more often. The fur is from rabbits he managed to kill (not an easy thing for him, more on that in later tasks). The bunny slippers are a reference to some of the earliest fan art of him by jijikit T + E Bunny slippers - Collab and I have now made them canon Are they real bunny heads? Possibly. If Tiernan had to kill a living creature I could see him making use of all of it, nothing going to waste. He wears slippers while inside his hidden home to keep warm and to spare his boots since those are the most difficult thing to get hold of when they wear out.
10. Daily wear (inside) – Tiernan spends a lot of his time indoors, studying, spellcasting, conspiring, and just trying to keep warm enough to function. This is one of his more common outfits, especially after Aardrin and Rysta come to live with him, and he doesn’t have to go out and hunt for his own food. Rose provides a lot of outfits for him once he starts visiting her, with the excuse that she wants him to stay healthy so he can continue healing her workers.
11. Daily wear (outside) - This is another outfit that has been pieced together from old clothes that Tiernan managed to steal away when he left Kentrell-by-the-Bend. Most of his clothing is in terrible shape after his first winter in hiding, but he doesn’t learn how to mend holes or repair items until he meets Rose. She helps him a lot with simple daily chores he was never taught, making sure he’s got the basic knowledge to fix things for himself. He’s got some sort of wool knitted item underneath to keep warm, probably a gift from one of the brothel workers. He always has his wand with him, but he makes it invisible so that no one can identify him as a mage by seeing it.
12. Winter clothing – A far better outfit for winter than he had initially, lined with furs from creatures he killed for food and magically tanned (he doesn’t deal with real tanning, he finds it too disgusting) and combined with some of his warmest clothes from the old days, probably velvet.
13. Old Midwife Disguise – This is one of the ways that Tiernan sneaks into Ravenwood after his first visit, under the name of Grandma Maya Goldweed, midwife. Gives him a good excuse to be in the brothel and no one looks twice at an old lady This was initially an outfit put together by Rose after his first visit to The Flower Shoppe raised suspicions and some enforcers came around to investigate. When the enforcers left, Tiernan escaped still in disguise. You can see he even gets rid of his sideburns, but he can easily and quickly grow them back using his healer abilities. He can keep his body and facial hair from growing, or even grow a full beard in seconds. Rose taught him how to put on the makeup he’s wearing, and thinks he looks ridiculous in the outfit but appreciates that it helps keep him safe.
14. Casting outfit – Despite the fact that he is in hiding he still feels it necessary to do the normal special occasion casting he’s always done, if just to make it clear that he appreciates everything The Gods have done to assist him. More subtle than his older outfit, it still has hints of The Gods: the water along his sleeves and small leaves and berries on the collar for the Earth Goddess; the two pentagons, one on his belt and one on his collar for the Bonded Five; and the two eye shaped gems on his belt, representing the Sky God’s eyes (the sun and moon).
